Between Barbadelo and Arzua Easter Weekend

Hola Camigos,
Just wondering if anyone has ideas or info or best places to hang out stay over Easter weekend, between these two places please?

I’m torn between staying somewhere quieter from the main towns and/or being in bigger towns such as Portomarin or Palas de Rei, for facilities or things open around Easter. May have a rest day. Umming and aaahing and already many places booked it seems. I’m booked in Barbadello and then Arzua a few days later. Where’s nice, where’s open?

I’mcompleting my third and final stage (done over 18 months) to Santiago. Travelling alone, though may meet up with some amigos doing it at the same time.

Not sure whether they’ll be open when you are walking but I stayed mostly off stage between Sarria and Santiago last summer and had two of my favourite evenings in Ventas de Naron and Ponte Campaña (at Casa Domingo). Both comfortable albergues with welcoming hosts and a great sense of Camino spirit. Buen Camino!

I like that! "Camigos" is a good one. I will definitely be using that in the future! I think this is the first time I've ever seen that.

I had to look up Barbadello because I didn't know the town even though I've probably walked through like 10-15 times.

Other people here are more qualified to answer your specific question.

BTW, I also had to look up what it is called when you combine two words to create a new word.

Ok, near Palas is a castle (Castilo de Pembre) that is open to visit. I have been there twice. (Summer and winter) The caretaker speaks excellent English. Also near Palas is the Vilar de Donas church which may be open. It has not been when I have been there.

We attended Mass in Palas last January and were welcomed even though it was not "pilgrim season".

Thanks Damien, Camigos just came to me as I posted! Thought it must have been used before! I perhaps should have said Portomarin and Melide and Palas de rei. Any memories of which are nicer towns to hang out in, bearing in my Easter hols?

Hi Abigail and thanks. I’d already spotted Casa Domingo on best albergues list and unfortunately not open until May. I’ll check out Ventas Naron. X

It might get a little crazy just before easter... its crazy fun but definitely may require some attention.

There will be lots of Spanish pilgrims walking over Easter. I think it will be nice. We will be in Zamora on a different route (VdlP) for Easter week this year.

Palas would be a an ok place for a couple of days. I've stayed there 3 different times. Once in a rented room. Once in a hotel that was closed when I walked past last year. Once at the Xunta albergue. They just opened a new big section of the highway now so the secondary roads are less traveled. There are stores and restaurants, etc. There is a bus stop and a taxi stand.
