I've just finished the Camino Frances & can happily report a bed bug free camino. I did use a permetherin treated sheet & my sleeping bag & rucksack were treated as well. I didn't encounter any pilgrims on 4 week trip that had any problems either. I stayed in a variety of municipal, parochial & private Albergues. Happy days.

Diverdavey, thanks for such a positive post. Wasn't anything to do with that full immersion suit you were wearing then.
