Bed bugs in Sarria pension

The pension Estachion in Sarria has bed bugs. I pulled back the sheets in two beds and there were bed bugs crawling around. After I showed the manager the bugs and said I was leaving, I was told that I would be refunded. They responded to Booking.com and told them I was a "no show". I was charged. I have a pilgrim stamp and date......a standard check in procedure. They lied to booking.com and I do not believe they were unaware of the problem.

What makes me so upset is that they are not taking responsibility for dealing with the issue, and will cause problems for those who work so hard to prevent the little critters from infesting their premises.

I have stayed in many albergues and have watched volunteers and owners alike....work very hard. They do not need to clean up other people's bad practices.

I can understand your disappointment about being charged. I would suggest that you contact booking.com and explain the circumstances and dispute the charge with them. Consider doing it by email so that you have a record of the matters you raised should it later be necessary to take the step @falcon269 has suggested.

On the matter of how the staff are dealing with the insects you saw, I can only suggest that speculating about that on this forum won't do anything effective. There are official complaint procedures that you could use to notify the appropriate authority about your concerns. I know that everywhere my wife and I stayed this year had the forms available to raise any complaints one might have.

Perfect memento/gift in a presentation box. Engraving available, 25 character max.
If you have an issue in a hostel or a restaurant ask for El Libero. This is the official complaint form. They will usually sort the problem out straight away without giving you the form. If you do fill in a form you will get in due course a resgistered letter from the tourist department of that locality and the issue will be thoroughly investigated. If you do not get access to the form, report the issue to the nearest tourist office. You can also go to the Poliziato make a formal complaint.... whatever, I am sorry that you had a grim e Petrie ce and were charged for it.
