Is there any need to pre book tickets for this journey or can I just purchase ticket when I arrive at station on 18 September?

No. U buy at station. €9.50. It is quite slow and no air conditioning'

Make sure that you get there in time though! When I arrived there around 9, the first train to SJPDP was leaving the next morning, so I had to get a hotel and spend the night there .
