Having said that, we do still need information on those topics.
Why not?we can't call it "All of Those Questions You're Too Scared to Ask
Because they're all questions that people HAVE asked! Why not?
As in "what size rice cooker should I bring?"Another thread could be called.
The Questions You SHOULD be Asking
In fact, that is exactly the type of question people should ask - something original. As in "what size rice cooker should I bring?"

Oh, but I think there should be a two week delay between the time you sign up and the time you can ask a question so that you can have plenty of time to do your research with the wonderful tools we are pointing you towards.True, but to be kind, sometimes one needs to just ask a question (any question) or make a silly first post, to get into the discussion. For many people, this is the first internet forum they have joined. Sort of a conversational gambit is needed.
[I hate to admit this, but I am beginning to sound like my mother!]
My vision is that someone might write an answer to each question and they would all be collated in one place and people could be pointed to that particular thread when "one of those" questions arises. Of course all past discussions will remain available for anyone who wishes to search for them.
My only sadness is that we can't call it "All of Those Questions You're Too Scared to Ask About the Camino" because that would be a great title;-)
To question or not to question, that is the question.
Another thread could be called.

I still think too big a deal is being made of new members asking questions that have been answered many times before by some "veteran" members who have forgotten what it was like to be a newbie.

Truth be told we all do this from time to time and hope someone else answers the question, this is not the problem for me, its when a newbie asks a much asked question and a veteran poster's answer is rude and unwelcoming, short memories, we were all newbies at some point.@wayfarer I kind of agree with you but at the same time I am aware I am shying away from some clearly newbie threads because I can't be bothered saying the same thing again

Maybe @ivar can put a link button to the FAQ's section like the Rules button.
Maybe we have not forgotten, but actually bought guidebooks to find out about the Camino. By choice, or because we walked pre everything internet, or even knowing the Forum existed.I still think too big a deal is being made of new members asking questions that have been answered many times before by some "veteran" members who have forgotten what it was like to be a newbie.

That's what I suggest is the thread that was closed, but above and beyond a button, I think the FAQ should be mentioned, and sent, in a welcome email when a new person signs up to the Forum.Maybe @ivar can put a link button to the FAQ's section like the Rules button.

I think it would be a show of respect to Ivar--who, after all, owns this great site--if the suggestions about any improvements bear in mind that he and his wife are very busy with a new infant.
I know that when I am dealing with life changes, I don't always feel positive or grateful when colleagues approach me with suggestions and improvements. Timing is a consideration, right?
Just a sidenote.
Oh the Zojirushi NP-NVC18 every time, a bit heavy and, at $500, a bit pricey but it'll make nearly 2 litres fabulous rice if you don't happen to have a bag of Uncle Ben's Express rice to hand . . .As in "what size rice cooker should I bring?"
Why not call it "Ask Tom Avery"?Why not?
This probably won't surprise anybody, but I like it just the way it is.
I must agree. I do too. Also, I think that if forum members stopped answering the inane questions (if they felt annoyed or bothered) and left the answers for another forum member or a staff member, it would solve a few issues:
1. Unhappy people responding to "how do I get a credential?" questions could attend to threads they enjoy.
2. Other members wouldn't be subjected to reading the complaints that the "unhappy people" make about answering the basic questions.
In essence, I would rather read--for example-- @Viranani 's response to a basic question than read @ X person's response, knowing that X is resentful and will later complain.
Also, while unhappy person may be incredibly tech savvy and have the literacy of a ph.d., people come in all shapes and sizes--intellectually.
Older, less savvy, less gifted people get to walk the camino, and ask questions, just as younger, tech-savvy, brilliant members do. I hope this all makes sense [edited: many of the older members are the most brilliant and tech. savvy people; I don't mean to imply that it's just the young who are!].
Buen Camino, and I hope this is taken in the spirit I've written it. Online communication is so open to interpretation. I'm trying to be honest here, not snotty, not mean, not finger-pointing.
Thanks for the reminder, I need shorts for my macabi skirtLike :why a Macabi skirt doesn't have shorts sewn in ...
How real is the real silk used in a 4 euros sleepsack....
A. Cost of a Spanish Camino per dayWhat else do we need?
H. When does the botafueiro swing.
An important topic as it brings the discussion to tp left behind along with other trash. On to the list it goes.I. (where can I pee?)
I couldn't help myself (laughing).
