Hi I suggest a good guide book has this type of information in it .
or St James Fraternity site:

I travelled in November 2007 from Barcelona to Pamplona to Roncesvalles to start Camino.
Pamplona to Roncesvalles: Local bus service to Roncesvalles, run by Autocares Artieda,
http://www.autocaresartieda.com, Mon-Fri dep.1800, Sat 1600, 4.35€. Check availability early and late season, (948 302 787)

Also a taxi service from Pamplona to either Roncesvalles or Saint Jean. It is operated by Francisco Igoa Martinez (649 725 951; he uses an 8 seat VW minibus. The fares for this service are not known but standard rates are in the region of 45-55€ to Roncesvalles and 75-85€ to Saint Jean.
Train from Barn Sants Barcelona : Barcelona to Pamplona: Cost from E32 for tourista class.
They depart at 7.03am, 12h30 and 22h30.
Arrive: 12h16: 18h30 and 05h34.
I left at 7am Barcelona arrive at 1pm with hours to spare in Pamplona until bus at 18:00 to Roncesvalles. Did some sight seeing but much was closed as siesta time...
You could leave Barcelona at midday spend night in Pamplona and Bus next day to Roncesvalles and then taxi which would give you afternoon in SJPDP, options vary and depends on it cost of bed / room versus taxi in some ways.
As Jean Rupp says " walk in a relaxed manner. "

You can post your stuff ahead to yourself in Barcelona (or Pamplona). The Post Offices (Correos) have various sized boxes - some large enough to take a bag or suitcase - and they will keep it for you in Santiago. 30 days is meant to be time for holding ? & I would write big, bold collection date on the box. FEd EX and other servcies costly so Post office is economic and reliable.
