Is anyone aware of any baggage transportation company that will transport back packs/large bags from one point to another along the Le Puy route (similar to what they do on the Camino Frances)

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
There are phone numbers and details in Miam Miam DoDo, for baggage transport services and also local taxi services. My copy is years old so I won't post it, but presumably anyone walking the Le Puy will get the latest version.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
You will find their advertisements in pretty much every place alongside the way ;-)

There is coverage, by the several different firms, for the entire length of the Le Puy route, all the way from Le Puy to SJPP. You can call them directly, if your French is passable, or your gite host will be happy to make the arrangements for you. They will transport small parcels (say, you want to offload 3 kg because it's a lot of uphill climbing the next day), backpacks, suitcases, and even people (ie, blisters, illness in one of a party, or overly ambitious planning when reservations were made). Charges run around EUR 7 for a backpack for one day.

Hi there, I'm considering walking from Le Puy to St. Jean next spring if I can get my French up to par. I'm looking on advice on a few things: - Would it be too cool and rainy to start walking...
