Hi there,
Going to do my first camino in May (can't wait, can anybody recommend smartphone apps that make life a little easier on the camino? Maps etc...
I'd be interested in this too. I could swear that I read somewhere that someone on this forum was developing an app due for release soon - but I don't know where I read that...
Here is a link to some useful maps. I have downloaded them to my iphone so that I don't need to carry separate maps. There are city and province maps a swell as the larger route maps. http://www.elcaminosantiago.com/Camino-Santiago-Maps.htm
Not sure what smartphone you have. I believe there is only one decent app for the iphone and it is in Spanish. If you have some Spanish then it is an excellent app. (very useful even if you don't) http://ax.itunes.apple.com/gb/app/camino/id378279011?mt=8
Ivar was developing an iPhone app and I believe it was in a beta form for testing. Not sure of the current status. It would be really useful to have a good source of info in English.
Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.
I've downloaded an app called pocketearth. You can use the maps offline and it would seem like they would be of great left once you leave the route in a large town. Of course you can ask for directions. But if you are language challenge, well that's another thing.

Just downloaded (it's a free app). Looks awesome, thanks. Even though in Spanish it's still very useful.
I've been using Alpine Quest for Android. At 4.95 e you can't go wrong. I have detailed maps with contour lines for the Frances and Portuguese. I created the maps with MOBAC but you can also save the maps directly out of the App itself onto the S.D. card once you are connected with the online map source.
Looking for recommendations.
I dislike sleeping bags. I’m also not fond of sleeping bag liners. I own one of each and carried them on all my Camino's but I don't think I ever once slept in them...
Hi there!
A few months ago, whilst doing first aid training our instructor mentioned that there were personal, one-use AED defibrillators on the market suitable for carrying in a back-pack.

I will be doing the Camino Frances in May/June 2025. I’m trying to decide between Hoka Challengers and Merrill Accentors. The Challengers don’t seem to have a very robust sole as the middle part...
Hallo,
First of all - thanks to all of you in this warm and generous community. Every time I have had a question, I've found a thread where someone else asked the same question years ago and it...
While shopping this morning I noticed that Aldi's ski clothing special buys will include merino base layers, and zip and roll neck tops. Due in store this Thursday.
I bought a merino top from them...
