Anyone with experience or recommendation on Camino Guide App?

Time of past OR future Camino

I have searched for a few apps in the play store and found one called Camino Guide Free. There seems to be some heated debate on using GPS. The App I found allows you to filter points of interest and even emergency services. It uses the GPS in my phone along with Google Maps. My Camino is not planned until June - July of '14, but I want to get familiar with the App now and not on my Camino. Has anyone used this App? Or is another one recommended?

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
My reccomendation would be to get My Tracks and then download the gpx files for the route you intend to do in the Resources section. You can then load and use these as a reference guide. Cache the route for the next day on Google maps if you have access to wifi of 3G. This along with a list of accomodation, also available on the forum, which you can download in PDF, is all you should need if you wish to use your phone as a guide.

I haven't used Camino Guide Free. I used Motion X - GPS, a generalized GPS mapping and navigation app, and downloaded the map from SJPdP to Fisinsterre. I then downloaded the track of the Camino into the app. Any time I wanted to see where I was, and whether I was on the Camino, the app showed me. It also tracked my progress. With the map downloaded, I didn't need cellular service, only access to GPS, which is available pretty much any time you are outdoors (and sometimes indoors).
