Albergues in Porto (early June)

Hello! My sister and I are planning to start our Camino de Santiago journey in Porto. We fly in on the 6th at 4:35. Would we be able to walk into an albergue around 5 or 5:30 and find a spot to sleep? Or should we book a hostel ahead of time?

It depends.

I booked ahead last year in the Albergue de Porto. Very nice, very helpful and professional. Nice garden and kitchen. They offer a warm welcome, Credential and first stamp, good wishes and helpful info.
You will need an hour in total from airport to the city center via the tram. If you want to use Albergue, get off at station Carolina Michaelis.

Be aware, that Portugal is back an hour to the MEZ. If you cross the border to Spain, you have to adjust.

Welcome to the forum!
Personally I would most definitely book the first night, possibly even the second so you can ease into your Camino. June is still considered high season on the Portuguese, although you have one advantage in that you are not arriving on a Friday or Saturday. (Weekends are obviously popular arrival times).
And Porto is of course (rightly) a very popular tourist destination.

If you are planning to play Tourist for a day or two in Porto before leaving then I would most definitely book. It's a wonderful city.

Camino Way markers in Bronze
The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
It will take you longer than 30-60 min. to walk into an albergue after landing. It will take you that long just to get out of the airport. Then you have to get to the city.
Yes, I would book a bed now. Take a look at what is on offer so you get the place you want, that suits you the best.
I stayed at Lost Inn in April and found the location to be great, right below the cathedral and an easy walk down to the river.
