This picture is of the albergue at Arca, in O Pino (El Correo Gallego)

Most alberuges open at 13.00, and some report of beeing full at 13.20. The albergue at O Pino has 120 beds, but the last few days they have had 210 guests.

Has the total number of pilgrims picked up? I remember a month or so ago that someone (probably you or Peter) published a link to an article showing that the number was down compared to last year.

that was in July :-) Numbers appear to have picked up again in August. We will know next month when the Pilgrim Office publish their monthly stats. A factor in recent weeks has been the forest fires, which caused people intending to walk the Camino Portugues to divert to the Frances instead, making the latter even more crowded.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
