The Black Country is the area immediately north of Birmingham in England's West midlands, which was described thus because of the enormous amount of black smoke hanging over the whole place because of the large number of iron foundries, smelting businesses and other manufacturing works which sprung up at the start of the industrial revolution in England in the late 1700's. The whole of the black country and Birmingham indeed, kick-started worldwide industrialisation and was referred to as the workplace of the world So,are we proud? I,m not too sure!! Anyway todays lecture over-back to the Camino. ( B.T.W. both places still have their own distinctive accents-but especially the Black Country-Is'nt that right Al?)[/QUOTE
I know that we have diverted somewhat from the Camino, but it has been a VERY interesting diversion --- Thank you for the small history lesson. Cheers.
