Hola Peregrinos! I’m walking CF from SJPdP in mid-April. A buddy wants to join me at Sarria to walk the last 100KM to Santiago. He’s flying from Orlando, Florida. Can you recommend the best city for him to fly into and mode of ground transport to Sarria? Thanks!

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
There would be many options on how to handle this.
Direct flights from the US, best I know, only go into Madrid and Barcelona....or Lisbon and perhaps Porto in Portugal. From Madrid you could fly into Santiago and take bus (or maybe train) to Sarria. However, it would be less complicated to fly into Madrid and take train directly to Sarria - 6 to 12 hours depending on the train. He could take bus as well, but train would probably be more relaxing - if he decides to take train, I believe that tickets can't be bought prior to 60 days before the trip, but I would recommend booking them before going to Spain.

Rome2rio.com is your friend. It will help look at a variety of options from Orlando to Sarria.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Madrid, flight to Santiago, bus from the airport to Lugo, bus from Lugo to Sarria. Several hundred variations are available. Timing is everything. Do you know when you’ll get to Sarria?

I should arrive Sarria 14 May, rendezvous with buddy and press on morning of 15 May.

Good luck with that. I’ve never, in 4 attempts, been closer than +/- 3 days on my eta into Santiago. I got to Villafranca del Bierzo 3 days before my wife once. Great town to waste some time in 😉. Late to meet an amigo in Lugo I walked Borres to Grandas in one day and night and cursed him every kilometer.
I think I’m just saying be prepared for that plan to go awry. But then Sarria isn’t a bad town to have to hang out in for either of you.
Buen Camino

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!

Thanks, understood. I guess flexibility is the key. BC, Mike

Hi I'm travelling to Burgos to walk part of the Camino Frances next year and my options seems to be fly into Santander and coach to Burgos, or fly into Madrid, then coach to Burgos. Don't think...
Hello! I’ve been browsing the forum and there’s plenty of info for baggage transfers from stage to stage, where you pick it up daily, give it back and move on, however what I’m after is a service...
