Canada's national airline, Air Canada, is now "under watch" in the travel industry due to it's wildcat baggage handlers strikes that might spread to other areas. This morning when I tried to buy Trip Insurance I was advised that if my trip cancellation was in any way connected with Air Canada's failure to deliver service, my insurance would not cover me. If arrangements had been made through a registered Canadian travel agency I would be covered, however, I've yet to see or find any travel company here that makes these arrangements (tours, self-guided walks). I booked a self-guided walk (luggage transfer and accommodations) through an agency in Dublin and will have to see what protection I might have through them.
Since information from different sources vary and should be confirmed, there is little on the AC strike possibilities, those travelling Air Canada should check their reservations since airlines do not advise quickly. Come to think of it, SpanAir never advised of its collapse, and I only learned of Iberia's imminent Friday & Monday strikes through Ivar on this forum. All three airlines at this time affect my travel. This takes hours of followup but better now than later.
