accommodation prices for Levante

Time of past OR future Camino
walking every day for the rest of my life
I have been collating information from a number of sites into a little spreadsheet for myself. I have plenty of accommodation options, but most simply provide phone numbers to call, rather than listing rates. Does anyone have their costs from the last year or two?

Hi,
I hiked on Camino del Levante this year. I will answer you in a few days, according to my stages

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
My prices are a few years old, but what I can suggest is that you post that list, and I will start calling to find out. Happy to do that with my very cheap Spain calling card.
I shouldn’t be surprised at your generosity because I have witnessed it consistently over the years I have hung around this forum - but I am certainly grateful!
My spreadsheet is still is the messy “I’ve just copied and pasted random info” stage - I’ll tidy it up, add in any pertinent info from @JLWV above and then send it your way. Probably won’t be before next week as we have a very full weekend. Thank you.

In my live from the camino thread I have posted the costs of the rooms Barrie and I stayed in.

@he.panpub Thanks for those details - even where you have a question mark it is useful! If you stayed there, it means the albergue must be open! That's cleared up a few gaps in my thinking. I appreciate your assistance.

I am guessing most of the municipals will be around 10 euros - so long as they are open.
My main question now is: are the following albergues open? Vallada * La Gineta * Hermansancho
(I'll be coming through in June)

Has the albergue at Gotarrendura closed? It’s between Avila and Arévalo. I stayed there in 2014 and it was an excellent albergue.

No - I have details for that one. Above are just the remaining gaps in my research that I am trying to fill.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
Vallada, more than an albergue is a Hostel, 5*, with rooms for 4, 6 and 8 persons, individual bathroom for any room. Don't know price today, probably between 25 and 30€
San Clemente and Escalona are 'municipal', and free
Avila is of the Association, donativo.
Gottarendura, 2x2 bunks in pilgrim part, free or donativo, and some 10 places in touristic part (don't know the price)

I stopped in Albergue of Gotarrendura in august 2019. For the key, go to the municipal bar : travesia Poveda/calle Mayor not far away from the Ayuntamiento. It's Donativo and it's a nice albergue. It's possible to eat at the municipal bar.

As I remember in La Gineta they moved Acogida from Polidportivo itself (changing room) to a nearby house. Best to call Policia which is located behind the Polideportivo as you come from Albacete.

TO in San Clemente is actually on the main square by the church and you can hardly miss it. The albergue is few blocks down the street from where you come.

It's Hernansancho not Hemansancho :)
Apart from your tel.no. I have two more:
- 920-261-028 (Teresa)
- 920-261-002 (Ayto.)
Haven't tried any of them. And I have them from 2015.

Arevalo:
- I didn't go to Parroquia to stamp my credencial and I got the key from Policia Local on the Pl.Mayor,
- I wrote down the remark that you can also get the key at Bar Desiree and Rte.Casa Felipe although I don't have the slightest idea where they are :)
- Next day I stamped my credencial in Guardia Civil Cuartel just around the corner of Polideportivo where Acogida is located.

San Vicente del Palacio:
- ahahahahahahaha, that one was funny.
- I called 983-825-006 (Ayto) and a man escorted me to a building where were few classrooms, not really Polideportivo. I slept on a some kind of foam in a hairdressers (clean though) classroom. Hot water, shower and toilet next room. All in all great. Bar in the village but no store (petrol station few 100s meters away).

Nava del Rey:
- The Madres Capucinas left the convent 4 years ago. The cheapest option would be CR Dos Hermanas (983-850-335)
- or just walk further to very nice village of Sieteiglesias de Trabancos. Nice muni albergue and extremely cosy and friendly restaurant nextdoor. Everything on main square. Even the store maybe 20mts away. That stretch from NdR to SdT is one of my favourite ever...

I don't know about any new albergue in Toro but last summer sisters in the monastery stopped offering rooms for pilgrims. There's a Pension (bar downstairs) that's adequate and not pricey on the main drag through Toro.

Albergue in Villalazan is actually in a elementary school classroom. But only in the summer when school is out. Shower and toilets around the corner.
When you come to Villalazan you turn right into first street. You'll see restaurant on your left, ask there, because alcaldesa's house is the one before the restaurant ;)
- I have many tel.numbers though: 980-699-468 (Ayto), 980-699-462 (Alguacila), and for Alcaldesa: 608-189-675 & 660-165-595.

Happy planning ;)

Thanks everybody. I now have a tidy little spreadsheet and a couple of nights booked in Valencia (and Toldeo because I absolutely don't want to miss out on accommodation there and have to walk on the next day!)
I have enough prices to be able to work out a realistic costing and have marked on maps.me all the supermercados en route. So I'm set. I really appreciate the feedback you have given.

One of my favorite nights was in the albergue in Sieteiglesias. It is up on the second floor of the Ayuntamiento, has two bunk beds and a bath. As it is actually in the town hall, it benefits from the regular professional cleaning staff. What left me kind of speechless was that they gave us the actual key to the town hall, which we had to walk through to get to our beds. At that time, I had no cell phone and had to use libraries when available. The mayor also opened up the library and left it there at our disposition. There is also a good menú del día out on the highway, and I remember that @Rebekah tells hilarious stories about sleeping in the slightly off-road hotel near by. I think she described it with Hitchock-like descriptions.

Has ayone stayed there recently? I’m hoping it is still available to peregrinos. Buen camino, Laurie

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
The albergue in Nava del Rey is new, from this year

3 years ago they were in Siete Iglesias de Trabancos 2 hotels.
One, Los Toreros de Trabancos, was a typical highway hotel, quite correct, and the other was told me to be not recomendable. May be this one is the one of @Rebekah. It is not listed in the guide.

I stayed in Siete Iglesias de Trabanco (08/18/2019). The municipal albergue was at the second floor of ayuntamiento. The key was at bar disco pub j7 and I ate at Bar Brillante. All of them are near ayuntamiento. Pay attention, as usual in spain, on sunday diner !

Perfect memento/gift in a presentation box. Engraving available, 25 character max.

Every time I think of the Pensión Zamora, I burst out laughing remembering the shower installation that had more knobs and jets and dials than I have ever seen on a shower. I couldn’t figure out how to take a normal shower, so I wound up having the water shooting at me from all weird directions, no small part of which spilled out onto the floor. A great camino memory. :)

The people there are lovely, though, and feed you way too much food. Because of the design of the hostal and restaurant, you can’t leave the hostal without going through the restaurant, which means that someone has to come down and open up for you. But we found that the son, though he may not have been happy to get up so early, did have breakfast waiting promptly at 7 am!

It was like an automatic car wash 😫
