I want to start the Via Francigena in Italy with a start at the end of January.
I am aware that a winter walk may not be the best option but I am going to tackle it
I’m thinking of starting near Lucca but would like to start further north. Is there a place a week or two further north to start that doesn’t have severe winter weather and a reasonable chance for daily food and accommodation?
Any insights appreciated
