Perhaps virtual pilgrims could stand in orderly ranks looking left to right and back again like tennis spectators; each holding a joss-stick. Those in the middle could duck slightly at appropriate intervals....

This has nothing to do with the pilgrim or the butofumero. But it's yet another example, for those of us living in North America, of how Europe is eons in front of us when it comes to technology. To be a country who can bank on its history to bring in revenue, to have tourists be able to immediately understand the evolution of the spot they are visiting, is brilliant.
