Earlier today, I answered a four-page survey being conducted by a recent member of this forum. It got me thinking about my first camino in a way that I hadn't done before. I was able to highlight three very unpleasant episodes on that 1998 Camino, involving other people. I know exactly where the first two happened, but I can no longer pinpoint the third, so I'm hoping somebody might be able to help me.

This took place at a refugio in Galicia, somewhere between Triacastela and Sarria. This particular refugio stood on top of a hill, somewhat isolated, and the only sign of life nearby was a new bar-restaurant at the bottom of the hill. In 1998, this refugio had just been reopened after suffering significant damage through fire.

For some reason, the name Furela rings a bell, but I'm not sure. The oh-so-kind-and-helpful owners of the bar-restaurant were called Julia (100% sure) and Manolo (90% sure). Can anyone help me to identify the place? I can't find any sign of the refugio or the restaurant on a modern map.

Could this be the place? It's casa Cruceiro in Ferreiros, between Sarria and Portamarin, just before the official 100 km marker. We stayed there in September and had a wonderful experience.

Doesn't ring any bells for me. But it would be 8 years after my first Camino and four years before my second. Many refugios appeared then vanished in that time as numbers built up rapidly. If it was Furela the OP means then I would not have seen the place anyway as I walked the other route via Samos.

I've scoured loads of Triacastela - Sarria stage videos, but I've never seen anything that looked remotely like the place. It might well have appeared and disappeared - quite possibly as a direct result of the destruction of a large percentage of the furniture, coming hot on the heels of the fire. I will just have to go back and have a look, I suppose, although I swore I'd never do the CF again.
