A place to sleep in Bilbao before heading to Hendaya

Hi all
this forum is great, though I still have have some questions:

1. I'm landing in Bilbao on the evening of July 15. That means I'll have to stay for the night.
Can anyone recommend a place for one person to stay (estimated prices included)?
Can I sleep in an albergue, although I don't have my pilgrim passport yet? or- where can i get a passport after six o'clock?

2. What do you think about the starting point of the northern route? Hendaya or Iron? Does it matter? What's the difference?

3. What is the easiest way to get by public transportation from Bilbao to Iron/Hendaya?

4. And least importent- If I'm getting my pilgrim passport in Bilbao, should I get another one at the beginning of my trip? I don't realy understand how is it used along the way.
