I have to admit that 7 weeks away from starting my camino is the first time this particular saints day has felt important but today it feels really exciting!

This day has particular meaning for me, since my home town parish is "Santiago Apostol". It also helps that I share my surname with the great apostle.

Beautiful concert and festival Mass this evening at Iglesia de Santa Maria in Carrion de los Condes -- the bells rang out, the crowds packed in, four guitarists played Vivaldi and Boccarini. The Meseta rejoices to have the camino through its heart, and St. James its patron.
