Greetings all,
My mother (64) and I (29) arrived in Lisbon on Sunday, July 16th and took the train up to Valença and started our camino on Monday.
We walked to Porriño the first day, then to the outskirts of Redondela (Hostal Jumboli - not recommended!) for the second night. Pontevedra was a blast and wish we could have stayed longer, but wanted to keep moving in order to make it to Santiago by July 24th for the feast day.
We decided to take an extra day here in Caldas de Reis. It has been HOT. 35-40C. Other than the industrial stretch in Porriño, the trail has been great -the fountains plentiful and the views inspiring.
Heading out to Padron tomorrow, then to Teo and then to Compostela on Monday. We´re in a world of our own - with the only brief contact with the rest of the world when we stop for nourishment along the road and everyone is watching the Tour de France!
Well - siesta time is almost over and an amazing seafood dinner awaits....
Best regards from the road to Santiago -
