Looking for a walking buddy on my pilgrimage. Thought about bringing a solo tent, but I think I might find camping alone little lonely! I'm in Le Puy from 21st and probably will stay a couple of nights to get my bearings. Anyone looking for a partner from then onwards encourage me to bring a tent!

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
You'll find many "walkng buddies" on the way.
why would you need a couple of" bearing" days? just start walking.

I agree. Don't delay. Start walking. He who hesitates is lost.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
There is a pilgrim association in Le Puy who welcome pilgrims each evening - a chance to meet others and share a glass of wine. Also there is a mass and pilgrim blessing each morning in the cathedral and the tradition that the pilgrims leave the cathedral together to start the walk. We loved the gites on the Le Puy route. I wouldn't consider camping.

Kanga,

Where in Le Puy is the pilgrim association located?

Thanks,
Sonn

It's very close to the Cathedral. Address and map (click on "Carte" to bring up map) can be found on this website:

When I was there, it was closed during the day but the time of their get-together was posted in the window. They also supply credencials if you don't already have one.

Julie,

Thank you so much for the info. Given I'll be travelling by myself, it will be nice to meet a few people before I commence my journey.

Did I mentioned I only have 12 days to go?!

Thanks again,
Sonn
:)

And good luck with your French. I'm hopeless but hand gestures and laughter can be very expressive. I take comfort in the 40 year marriage of my friend to his French wife - they met and married without being able to speak each other's language. Actually, perhaps that's the secret!

Cheers for the info. I arrive very late on the 21st. I don't want to walk from Puy without 'feeling' it first. Will bring a light weight tent just incase the gîtes are full. Will attend the evening get together as suggested on the 22nd.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Hi there, I'm considering walking from Le Puy to St. Jean next spring if I can get my French up to par. I'm looking on advice on a few things: - Would it be too cool and rainy to start walking...
