We just got our newsletter this morning with a hospitalero report from 2023 from HosVol (one of the organizations we volunteer for that staffs albergues on various Caminos with volunteers). They covered volunteers for 22 albergues in 2023 and there were 587 volunteer hospitaleros needed for this task. Most of these albergues are open April to October with only 6 open all year round. The hospitaleros in 2023 came from 5 different continents and served about 64,000 pilgrims from more than 80 different countries on four different Camino routes. Good job! They are not the only organization providing volunteers and beds at traditional hospitality albergues so thanks to all of you who volunteer and to the communities and organizations that continue traditional hospitality albergues on the Caminos.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
So how does one volunteer?
Thanks

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
From the US to volunteer for HosVol, you can take a course from American Pilgrims on the Camino. You need to have walked a Camino and stayed in some municipal, church, or association albergues. At the course, they explain how to submit your application to volunteer.

Dear @Rebekah Scott, could you kindly send me a private message (I can't figure out how to do so) about volunteering? I just had to cut short my most recent Camino due to some dog care responsibilities but am looking to return to the Camino as a volunteer. Thanks much and apologies for the broader posting. Regards, Mark
