Well I enjoyed my little chat with you Sybil and you too Jill. It was like an oasis among all the hustle and bustle of Santiago.Suerte,Mick.Tomorrow there will be a special guest @Kanga (Jill) at the meet-up, come by and say hello to the two of us ;-) Buen Camino, SY
@SYates' welcome and Egeria House is very special. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed them!
Correcting myself:Arriving in Santiago Thursday 9.
Will the door be open?
Regards, Jacques-D.
Due to low pilgrim numbers in winter, the forum meet-up is now 'please call/message ahead' only. You can reach me via this forum or via the contact info here: http://egeria.house/contact/ if you want to chat all things Caminos over a cup of something. Buen Camino, SY
I look forward to dropping by in April too!
Hi everybody, hibernation over and pilgrim numbers increasing! I just updated the first post with the info for 2018. In short, you are all welcome to drop in between 15:00 and 17:00 on weekdays.
Hope to see a lot of you soon and Buen Camino, SY
I am here, waiting for you all! My biggest fear is that --- nobody turns up ... BC SY
Pilgrim season is picking up again and so the Forum-Meet-Up/Open House in Santiago returns every weekday between 15:00 and 17:00 ;-)
Location:
S.Yates' Place
Travesía do Carme de Abeixo 4

Not sure if you can drop by tonight. I have had to curtail my Camino yet again, due to IT Band issues. Ergo my reason for the invitation here. I will pm address.
The address is in the first post in this thread https://www.caminodesantiago.me/community/threads/2018-open-house-forum-meet-up-in-santiago.48513/I’m budding into Santiago tomorrow and will also be there Sat, Sun, and Monday. Will you be open for visitors and can you post the address?
Oooohhhhhhh. This is in Finisterre. I thought it was in Santiago.
No it is not. Absolutely in Santiago. Was there two months ago.[/
Ok. I see. Thanks.
I’m confused- it says to follow the Camino to Finisterre ...
Sorry. I had to go back to Lavacolla. Group business. I will try to make it Monday.
Hi everybody!
I updated the first post in this thread with up to date information here: https://www.caminodesantiago.me/community/threads/2018-open-house-forum-meet-up-in-santiago.48513/
However There will be no forum meet up this Monday and Tuesday, I am recovering from a nasty tonsillitis and don't want to pass this on as a souvenir to a poor pilgrim ;-)
Don't worry, I am nearly feeling 100% again, just being cautious ;-)
BC SY
May you get well soon, @SYates!!I am recovering from a nasty tonsillitis
As the Anglican Chaplaincy, see https://www.caminodesantiago.me/community/threads/anglican-chaplaincy-in-santiago.55255/, takes its "summer break" we are back to normal, or whatever counts as normal in my life ;-)
Important Info! Please read first!
How to find my place:
The address is TRAVESIA do Carme de Abeixo, there are two streets with similar names in the neighbourhood. At least one neighbour in those streets, as I discovered, has had regularly pilgrims ringing her door bell. She was really gracious as I went over to apologize, but please make sure you come to the right place. To find my house (and not hers):
Follow the Camino to Finisterre until you see the sign pointing to the albergue Roots&Boots pointing to the left.
Turn right in the little street called TRAVESIA do Carme de Abeixo.
My place is less than 10m down that street at number four on the right hand side.
- It is a white, wooden door, which is open (weather permitting).
- SYates is written on the door bell.
- If you don't see my name on the door bell, you are at the wrong house!
Please help me to maintain good relationships with my neighbours and don't ring/knock at the wrong door ;-)

I will provide: Tea/Coffee, soft drinks, cookies/biscuits etc.
Costs: None, but you are welcome to bring drink/food to share with others and there might be a discreetly placed basket in a corner where you can drop a cent or two for the next supply of tea bags ;-)
Open House is Monday to Friday 16:00-18:00, but if you want to come earlier/later/on the weekend just drop me a note (contact details here: http://egeria.house/contact/ and I will be there and open the door for you!
Lets just see how it goes and I will take it from there. Looking forward to seeing you all & Buen Camino, SY
PS For all of you that are/were concerned about my privacy: When I envisioned living in Santiago, I already had it very clear in my head that I would share part of the house with pilgrims/friends, so nobody is intruding on my privacy ;-) The ground floor is 'open space', the first floor is 'invited only' space and the second floor is 'only my space'. ;-)
Oh, I didn't read that you were ill. I hope you recover!! Anyway I will be in Santiago the 27!Sorry guys, this tonsillitis simply doesn't want to go away - so no Open House this whole week, sorry. I am now on antibiotics, hopefully that will do the trick. Buen Camino, SY
Hope to be better by then ;-) See you the 27th @Bad Pilgrim! BC SY

Anyone who gets to Santiago and doesn't go to @SYate 's place is missing out on something special.as long as it brings pilgrims to my place ;-)
We just missed you Bearded Pilgrim! Sitting in Madrid Airport looking at the snow-topped hills I walked across five weeks ago!! Say hi to Sybille for me!@SYates we're in SdC now, and we fly out on 3 November. We still have to find a suitcase/bag to put our backpacks in it (and have to do it today as tomorrow is a public holiday), but apart from that, it would be great to meet.
I'll send you a text, but fully understand if we can't meet.
Thank you
Andrew
