If you measure your average step length and then divide that into the mileage of your camino route, you can estimate the number of steps you will take walking el camino.
In 2002 I walked with 2 friends - our average step length was .75cm
Divided into 750kms it worked out to exactly 1 million steps!
(You will ultimately walk many more kms sightseeing, detours, shopping for food etc.)
