  1. Drinking Water

When going on holidays to Spain we have always been told to be weary of the drinking water. I must say that I have not seen or read about the condition of the drinking water. Have pilgrims had any issues, would it be good practice to bring purifying tablets? Do you drink small amounts until your...
  2. Water on the Portuguese Camino

Please advise me about fountains or water availability especially if you've recently walked from Lisbon to SdC (2014). On my Frances' journey fountains were quite frequent. I've read Brierly and he seems to say that water is less frequent. What's the latest? What are the alternatives to...

Hello All. I intend to walk Camino Frances in May/June 2015 and I am compiling my kit. 6. Water on the Frances

Water. Hi everybody. I can't figure out how to start a new thread and couldn't find one for water. I have an Osprey Kestrel that has a water bladder compartment, but it doesn't seem that the bladder would be necessary as from SJPP to Santiago has so many towns to pass through, each with water...
  7. Le Puy route water

Could those who have walked the Le Puy route comment on water availability. I suspect it is not a problem and readily available en route - is this correct? I understand the Spanish routes will be different so I'm particularly interested in those who have experience of the Le Puy route. How...

    Water

Years ago when I went to Spain I was advised not to drink any of the water and to use bottled water to brush teeth etc as our systems would not be used to the local bacteria. Does this still stand? Or was it overkill? Thanks, karen

Hi all, Sorry if this has been asked already. I want to know what type of water bottle I should be buying and what size? Will any particular made bottles (e.g. aluminium) have a funny taste? Any recommendations for something that is very eco-friendly? Thanks, Catherine.

  17. Maps with fountain info

I was wondering if someone might have information/maps that describe the fountain locations along the Camino Frances. Two years ago Sil was nice enough to send me some maps that detailed this information. This year we are starting a little further back, in O'Cebreiro, and I am wondering if there...
