sleeping bag

  1. Recommend sleeping bag liner

We’re looking for “bed bug protection” sleeping bag liner for the Camino. US purchase ideas? (We’re in Oregon) thanks for any ideas.. brand, model… thanks. Bob
  2. Sleeping Bags still required?

For those currently on the Frances…are sleeping bags still required at the albergues? I thought I had previously read they were no longer allowed, but maybe that was on the Portugues? Or maybe I was just dreaming? Planning on a September Camino with my niece who has not walked one before and...

Coldest Stages on Camino Frances for late June/July

What are the coldest (overnight temps) stages on the Camino Frances for Late June/All of July? I'm debating bringing a liner PLUS a light sleeping bag for the albergues OR if I know in advance the coldest stages, maybe those are the nights I'll spend a bit more and stay in a place that has blankets.
  4. Sleeping bags advised - at least in Galicia

Here are two articles appearing in La Voz de Galicia this morning. https://www.lavozdegalicia.es/noticia/sociedad/2021/06/11/vida-galicia-partir-sabado-puedo-tomar-barra-bar-cuantas-personas-puedo-ir-playa/00031623400857540615328.htm...
  5. REI Sleeping Bag - Camino Light

REI Outlet has a Kelty 40 sleeping bag on sale TODAY ONLY for US $70. The bag only weighs 1# 10oz. and includes a stuff sack. This is the lightest bag I've found at any price point below $400 and should be warm enough for 3 seasons on the Camino.
  6. Bed sheets

I have a rather specific question... As a very restless sleeper, I know for a fact that I can’t use a sleeping bag or a zippered sleeping sack. I’m wondering if anyone has ever used a fitted sheet and a light weight fleece blanket? When I walked in 2014, I used a cotton sleeping sack that I cut...
  7. Washing Your Sleeping Bag on Camino?

I have not needed to tote a sleeping bag with me on Camino before, as I tend to stay in CRs and private rooms if in an Albergue. But I'm taking the plunge and will be throwing myself into the whole Albergue thing next time around. Sorry folks. So yet another of my dumb questions... I...

    Backpack and Sleeping Bag Care

Many of us are at home with some time to spare. In thinking about Camino, perhaps this might be a good time to look at the two major pieces of gear we use and do some maintenance and cleaning. Backpack General Maintenance: 1. Empty EVERY SINGLE POCKET. Check for gunk, like a moldy baggie of...
  10. Sleeping bag for early September Camino Frances?

I’ll be doing the first section of the Camino Frances, from SJPP to Los Arcos, between 1st and 10th September (including exploration days). I’ve booked private rooms in advance for the whole route (medical reasons—wish I could stay in bunk beds but can’t). Some of the rooms are in hotels or...

Women over 60 who DON'T take a sleeping bag...

I'd like to hear from you. I am struggling with whether to take or not take a sleeping bag. I know many people just take a liner, sleep with their clothes/jackets on, rely on a blanket at the albergues, etc. I'd kind of settled on that approach and then read a thread where a number of women...

    Sleeping bag

I am planning to walk the VLPR in the end of September and first two weeks of October ,does anyone know if I need a sleeping bag or just a liner.
  13. Blanket clarity

I’m planning to start in St Jean Pied de Port early May this year. Thus far, I’ve been told that: 1.) the albergues rarely have blankets, AND 2.) rarely did a person need a sleeping bag because the albergues now have blankets and sheets. So, which is more accurate for the albergues on the...
  14. Do I carry a sleeping bag or an ultra light liner bag ?

Dear all, I will be walking the camino primitivo late October / begining of November 2019. I am not sure if I should cary only an ultra light liner instead of a sleeping bag. Do all albergues provide blankets? By carrying only a liner I will save 400gms of weight. Could anyone with...
  15. Is a sleeping bag needed in September on the Ingles?

Hello, planning to walk this old though short Camino starting 9 September from Ferrol and wondering if a sleeping bag is required? Will have a silk liner to sleep in and not sure if the albergues provide blankets or not. Have been caught out once on the Portuguese and slept with all my clothes...

    Sleeping bag vs liner

I'm planning on walking the Camino Frances starting in mid-April next year. I've been through all the sleeping bag vs sleeping liners discussions and it appears that the definitive answer is 'it depends'. With that in mind, I'm wondering if some of the experienced forum members could weigh in...
  17. Treksilk 100% Silk Liner Dye Bleed

If you've dealt with this before, what did you do? My Treksilk 100% silk liner came in today and I'd read that it's good to cold wash it asap because, sometimes the color bleeds. Other's said to wash it in cold water with a cup of white vinegar and/or salt to prevent the dye from bleeding...HAH...

For summer, a sleeping bag for how many degree?

I am going to buy a sleeping bag for July's trip. What kind of sleeping bag do I need? I wonder the temperature's variation at night.
  19. that old sleeping bag question, once again

Hi, sorry to be redundantn but could not find the exact answer for this route. Most of these issues seem to deal with the Camino Frances. Now that I am packing to leave in April for Lisbon, am wondering if I really need that (light weight ) sleeping bag, or will the sleeping sheet from Le Puy...
  20. Sleepingbag, mat, liner or?

Hi there, I'm planning on walking the camino del Northe from Irun at the end of march/beginning of april. This is my first time walking any camino. My packing list is almost complete, the only thing I'm not sure about is my sleeping gear. I don't have much money so advising nice but very...
