sleeping bag

  1. Sleeping bag + mattress cover = no bed bugs?

Hi There, I plan to bring a down sleeping bag for my walk starting late September (I often get cold at night so am playing it safe with the bag). However, I don't like the idea that if I get warm and unzip my big, I will be welcoming bed bugs to join me. I already plan on treating my bag with...
  2. List of sleeping bags, liners, quilts and blankets under 1kg

Building on the work of Rajy62 in this thread I’ve created a google sheet containing a list of sleeping bags, liners, quilts and blankets that are under 1kg which others might find useful. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1KaJNF62YmY1SgftFdqTiFYs7_l50SZF6YnTNLKQOvgs/edit?usp=sharing I am...
  3. Sleeping Bag September October

I'll be walking mid September to late October. Looking at two sleeping bags. Both ultralight and very compressible but one is lighter, rated to 45F, and costs less and the other is rated to 32F, costs more, and a bit heavier but still very light. Given temps at night, do I need to go with 32F...
  4. Question about sleeping bag weights.

I have been trying to find the lightest sleeping bag that is not very expensive or confining. I do not need a very warm bag as I will be walking Sept-Oct this year and tend to be a warm sleeper anyways. I am pondering the The North Face Dolomite 2S Sleeping Bag...

Allright, who has the lightest sleeping bag ;)

So, I know there are many many threads on sleeping bags. I've spent time in all of them. However, with the rate new gear comes out, I figured it might be okay to bring up the discussion again. I had been planning on a backpacking quilt.... 16 ounces, 40 degrees, packs up small like a...

    Sleeping Bag

What am I looking for in a sleeping bag to do the Camino in September? I weigh 100 lbs and I tend to get cold more so than others so I want to be comfortable, but not stifling. How much should my bag weigh, does it fit into the backpack, etc. I do not want anything bulky that will weigh me down.

What do you recommend for footwear and sleeping bag that will not break the bank

What do you recommend for footwear and sleeping bag. I am thinking of buying hiking shoes and I do not know if I need or should consider waterproof. I have also read about sheets vs sleeping bag.

  9. Risk no sleeping bag in November ?

A question for the winter walkers.. I'm taking the plunge, and am planning to walk from Logrono for just under 3 weeks, starting 30th October. I've only ever taken a silk liner on previous caminos, and relied on the blankets in the albergues. Is this a crazy thing to do in November? I've found...

    Ultra-Light Rectangle Sleeping Bag

I’ve struggled with choosing the right sleeping bag for the Camino. As I find the Mummy design very restrictive, I chose a 2-pound (907-gram), rectangle sleeping bag on my first Camino in April 2013. On my Camino this past April 2014, I said screw-it and brought a 550-gram Mummy design...
  11. Do I need to bring a sleeping-bag in september?

Hello forum-members, I am planning to walk on CN from August 30, and on for two weeks. As far as can get in that time, without any hurry (this walk is a test of my back's capability, after just having recovered from a herniated disc). My question is; do I need to bring a solid sleeping-bag, or...
  12. Le Puy to Conques in early to mid-October 2014

Thanks for the reminder about All-Saints Day! I am planning on a two week+ Camino from Le Puy to Conques early to mid-October (or so) 2014 as I noticed a number of places were closing down around the 20th. And I appreciate the information on the elevation and the weather! A special thanks to...

  14. Thermolite sleeping bag liner. OK to use w/o bag?

Hi: I'm considering using my Thermolite sleeping bag liner as my sleep sack and not bringing my lightweight down bag at all. Has anyone else used a Thermolite liner as their sleeping bag on the Camino? I'm finishing my three year Camino this June - going Leon to Santiago. Any advice would...
  15. Sleeping Bag Liners

I am walking the Camino in May/June is it worth bringing a micro fleece liner instead of a sleep bag?

    Sleeping Bags

Can I use just a travel sheet or is a sleeping bag essential? Do the albergues/refugios have blankets to hire and are they bed-bug safe?
  17. Primitivo in April and over-thinking the sleeping bag versus silk sack options

On Easter this year, I plan to start the Primitivo and end-up in Finesterre. I try not to be too neurotic about packing light, but after the luxury of doing big slices of the Frances and the Ingles with a silk sleep sack, I have been concerned about Albergues in April and finding adequate...
  18. sleeping bags-necesario ?

In the milder months(May-June) (Aug-Sept) do you think you could do without a sleeping bag? I've read the benefits of mattress covers and have a sturdy blanket in mind, that way I can get them washed without worry of drying or ruin. should I add a sb liner as well. I'm warmblooded to begin with...
  19. A Sleeping Bag Testimony

I don't have THAT much to say about it yet, but I just wanted to share how in five minutes (actually less) I went from totally planning to deal with acquiring a sleeping after I got to Spain, because I just didn't want to deal with it, and only looking for the right liner, to falling in love...
  20. Any advice on sleeping bags?

My partner and I are planning to start our Camino Frances pilgrimage around the end of May and expect to be walking for about 6 weeks. We've researched various different types of sleeping bag, silk sheet sack, travel sacks etc to find a light weight sleep covering that will be warm enough for...
