    How to get to Sarria

Hi @saara kinnunen, I was going to say “welcome to the forum” but then I noticed you have been a member since 2016. I guess you’re used to members humour. Flying into Madrid in October the train is likely your best solution for the onward journey. Flights into Santiago are getting scarce by...

    Train from Chamartin to Leon

I’m sorry but you have no chance whatever of making that connection unless you can teleport. Flight landing times are “wheels on ground” not through the gate, border control, and any necessary transit between terminals. In your circumstances I think I’d be planning a night in Madrid somewhere...

    Backpack transport

I really am trying to be helpful but I’m lost in your question. Using luggage transport is not compulsory and is easily avoided by packing lightly. Packing what you need rather than what you can pack. If you’re planning to use transport some days and carry your full kit on others then you need...

Someone in Oviedo who speaks Spanish and has some time on their hands?

@Maartje1 it might be worth reaching out directly to the people at the municipal albergue https://www.gronze.com/asturias/oviedo/albergue-peregrinos-salvador Kind people are often kindly

Alternative to Monbus (Samos to Santiago)?

Monbus are very reliable. Reviews on the internet are not. Edit: you could walk to Sarria, catch a (reliable) bus to Lugo and a bus to Santiago from there. You could just get a taxi if you’ve the budget and want to make a local taxi driver very happy.

Taxis or shared rides available to Sarria/Samos from Ourense, Jun 1, 2024

@catholicchiro, pull up a map of Galicia on your IT. Take a look at the journey you’re proposing. Plot it into rome2rio. Via Santiago be more practical but… what time do you expect to exit Madrid and do you have an accommodation reservation you are trying to meet?

Taxis or shared rides available to Sarria/Samos from Ourense, Jun 1, 2024

Try looking for a train to Ourense and then a separate train to Sarria. Or train to Santiago, bus to Lugo, bus to Sarria ( you may even find a bus to Samos otherwise taxi). Or fly Madrid to Santiago, bus, bus, (taxi). Or spend the night in Madrid and travel early the next morning. I don’t...

    Bus to cross Burgos

It will probably be quicker to walk, and more pleasant via the “river” route. Otherwise you can catch a bus into the centre of Burgos from Villafria and a bus from the bus station out to Villalbilla de Burgos. Rome2rio should sort out service providers and timetables.

    Bus from Bilbao to Logrono

I can book that bus without a problem. The website works fine in English and Spanish. Try clearing your cookies or changing your browser. That said it is unlikely that the bus will be full. At present one seat is booked, the one behind the driver so unlikely to be an actual booking. Most...

    Return from Muxia to Santiago

It’s unlikely the bus will be full, especially the early morning one. Fall back is the bus to A Coruna and the train to Santiago

Recommendations for travel from Logrono to Sarria

I’m on my phone and in a foreign country (aren’t most of us 😉) but @WCP might find a better route by breaking the journey down a bit. Perhaps Logrono/Burgos/Leon/Lugo/Sarria. There are consistent bus services between the major cities. The bus companies have little regard for the needs of...

Recommendations for travel from Logrono to Sarria

Rome2Rio says: https://www.rome2rio.com/map/Logro%C3%B1o/Sarria Which translates as “if I we’re going there I wouldn’t start from here”. That said train Logrono to Madrid, Madrid to Sarria is doable in a day or an excuse for a night in Madrid

Luggage logistics in case of change of plans

You might trip over a kerb on your way to the Correos in Pamplona and your parcel would never get sent. Seriously, as a professional catastrophizer (auditor) I would say that you have addressed the risk and identified appropriate resolutions. Any of the solutions you've suggested would be...

According to R2R, fly. https://www.rome2rio.com/map/Santiago-de-Compostela/Bilbao If you have time and a sense of adventure you could use the FEVE railway from Ferrol, takes 3 days but it’s a great way to travel
