This brought back memories of when I was a student nurse in Auckland, NZ - we raced old hospital beds down the hill of the main street (Queen Street) in an inter hospital team event🤣
Cdeortega, fingers crossed it is a passing issue and the physio can help you on your way🤞 it is hard to give up on our dream and we press on longer than we should sometimes. It is good you are seeking help. Hoping all the sick and enjured recover quickly🙏 I am much better today, at least not...
Currently walking from Lisbon and am just getting better from some bug - RAT neg ×2 - since last saturday (arrived thursday) Nasty sore throat and head cold. Used mask amongst others but continued walking as felt better upright than lying down. Feel like I've turned the corner today:) Hope you...
We set out from SJPdP May 20 2014. Others staying at Gite Beileri set off early in the steady rain. We decided to wait as we were only going to Orisson so spent time loitering in the pilgrims office using their Wifi when the staff recieved a phone call for them to advise against any more...
We also stopped early after coming across Casa Magica in May 2014. I was full of a heavy head cold, was given a bed by a wall heater which was turned on for me and the food was excellent - staying here was a real highlight of our camino😊
A couple of my favourites not yet mentioned - Casa Magica, Villatuerta, very caring and kind when I arrived with a heavy cold (2014) giving me a bed next to a wall heater and turning it on for me. The dining room and food was of restaurant quality. Also enjoyed En el Camino in Boadilla del...
Hi Jess - be careful with your archilles! Try not to aggrevate them further - I injured mine last January and am only recovering now after some deep shock wave treatment and finally changing my work shoes. I am convinced the back of my shoes rubbing on my swollen archilles added to the problem...
First glimpse of the Pyrenees on the Le Puy route was in Larressingle - you really had to look hard as we had cloudy/overcast weather. Madame had a painting on her wall with what we would see on a fine day. Apparantly they should be visible from any of the high points after that but we didn't...
I totally agree with you! I just wanted to point out that some travel insurance policies may not cover horse riding unless added as an extra, therefore if someone (in the very unlikely event) should unfortunately take a fall and injure themselves they may not be covered by their inusrance...
I was interested in riding the horses up too but remembered seeing horse riding was on the exclusions list (along with motor bikes etc) of my travel insurance so gave it a miss - just something worth checking? Chances of a fall is probably minimal but you never know when a horse may startle at...
We stayed here too in June 2018, arriving exhausted on a hot day after some steep climbs to a very cool (cold) welcome from Madame. In the end tho we believe she is just very reserved whereas her husband is very exuberant! She was happy to have her photo taken with the huge cow bell she was...
If you stayed upstairs at Santa Clara you would have seen the stair railing which i think was a metal sculpture of the world. They had a lovely courtyard with outdoor lounge chairs and a dog (i think a dalmation?) called Linda - I remember this as that is my name too! There was a separate...
En el Camino in Boadilla was definitely my favourite, an oasis in the 'desert'. In Bercianos we stayed at 'Santa Clara' alberque which was excellent. We had a private room upstairs in the main house. Breakfast was excellent and the owners very welcoming and helpful. Coming from Adelaide in...
