Another question from Marska ... sorry all!

Hi. Yes hat, yes sun glasses, and yes sufficient rain cover, whatever that may be. I bought poncho from pilgrim shop in SJPP. Loved it. Walked sept 30th to November 2022. I wore sandals each evening ....without socks but I tend to run warm. Ohhh and take flip flops for the shower. I tried...

    Advice please

Hi Cindy, no shame, whatsoever. Do what you have to do to make the camino work for you. My experience on the frances seemed to be approximately 40 % were shipping their packs daily. Camino is an amazing experience. Go for it.

    Wet shoes, cold feet, blisters

The most important thing is comfort and fit. Yes your feet will get wet. When you stop for coffee, remove your shoes and socks, dry your feet , leave them to air until you finish your coffee. Dry socks and your shoes and carry on. Ask the server at the bar for a newspaper(giornale) I think...

Which Camino to choose if the CF is too crowded?

I walked CF at almost your same dates in 2022. Yes there are people. no, I was never feeling overcrowded. There was always a bed. Many times just a few of us in a multi bed dorm. Do as suggested above.... book a bed through to Pamplona. After that you will be fine and yes you will have...

    Need help with MAPS.ME please

I walked in fall 2022 on camino frances with guidebook and no electronic devices for route. Frances is very well marked. You will be fine. A little tougher coming out of the bigger cities but you pick up on watching for the markers very quickly.

    Dimensions of Camino Passport

I will second the suggestion of keeping your credentials in a plastic bag in the fanny pack. I saw many folks with water ruined credentials.

    Gaiters

Dirty girl gaiters all the way for me whenever I walk. I have worn them for years. They will not keep rain out but are fantastic for small stones, pebbles.

July and August are tourist season on PEI. Keep that in mind regarding accommodations etc.

    Santiago favorites accommodations

Hortas pension. Very close to the cathedral but quiet. I really enjoyed my stay there . The staff are terrific and there is a laundry a few doors up on the way to the cathedral

    Strangest Thing on Your Camino?

A pile of Bones of deceased. On the Frances fall of 2022. Stayed in an albergue connected to a church. The church needed drain tiles (piping to draw away water from the base). They had dug up around the base of the church disturbing many Graves and piled the bones in a heap in one spot in...

When do most pilgrims feel like quitting the Camino de Santiago?

Never once on the actual camino but I sure did on the rooftop tour of the Santiago Cathedral

    Entrance to Portomarin

As most have posted yes at the approach to the stairs you can go right and up the hill to the village. The other question you posed was regarding a treacherous downhill on entering portomarin. Yes there is. I traveled it in early November 2022. There are signs to give you alternate routes...

Why is the statue of a caveman there?

Haha. Yes that fella. Raining and blowing a gale as we pilgrims weaved along down the path. Couldn't see well with the winds and rain, turned around the corner of a building, walked a few paces and there he was. I screamed then laughed at myself. A memorable day. I wondered about him as well.
