    Credencial in Vila do Conde

Hi everyone I'm hoping to start the coastal route in October. Does anyone know if the Albergue de Santa Clara sells credencials? Thanks Mark

Advice on March Weather and Albergues on Camino Portugues

March is really quite mild (not too hot) Spring flowers. I think there's a recent post elsewhere on the forum about two sites that list open refuges on all routes etc (one of them being Gronze). Bom camino

Sept 2021 Senda Litoral with Variante Espiritual

There is now an albergue in Vigo : https://www.alberguescaminosantiago.com/camino-de-santiago-portugues-por-la-costa/albergue-de-peregrinos-de-la-xunta-de-galicia-de-vigo-pontevedra-camino-portugues-por-la-costa/

    Credencial Stamping in Oviedo?

When I walked the Primitivo, I bought my credencial at Oviedo albergue - and they definitely have stamps. Thanks Mark

Sept 2021 Senda Litoral with Variante Espiritual

The albergue in Caminha doesn't get a great press. Also I'm not aware of an albergue in Vigo (and wouldn't recommend the one in Freixo). There are alternatives, and you may not want to stay in albergues at all/every night. Thanks Mark

Osprey Kyte 36 or Tempest 34

I'd suggest a thirty litre pack is more than adequate, and space between your back and the pack is a must. Thanks Mark

Anyone got any advice about places to stay on the Spiritual

I understand Os Castaños offer single rooms for 25 euros - I haven't been it gets great write-ups https://www.oscastaños.es/

Opción Pie - walking from Vilanova de Arousa to Pontecesures

It's possible that the hospitalero at VNdA has a vested interest in recommending at least one of the boat trips (especially as he pretends not to know of the other). Thanks Mark

    Bus/train

I had problems using the MonBus site, but eventually manged to download a timetable. Catoira features. I hope this helps Mark

    Rota Vicentina 6-15 February 2019

I am returning to this route, walking from north to south. I start from Vilanova de Milfontes (6th, staying at Casazul, already booked). 7th Almograve (YH already booked). I then plan to proceed south via Zambujeira do Mar, Odexeice, Aljezur (prefer Jo House), Arrifana, Carrapateira and maybe...

May 2018 Rota Vicentina, places to stay and eat

I walked from Vila do Bispo to Vila Nova de Milfontes in May (I went from south to north). I am planning to return to walk from the north. General observations (probably well known) along the coast, the route is often spectacular, the inland routes less so. First night Hotel Montemar (Lagos)...

    Mosquito net?

I have been bitten in Scotland (Glencoe), Italy (Pisa) and Mallorca (Port de Soller). I understand mosquitos are a summer plague in northern Norway. I like the fact that you have a Santiago, and I a James element to our names. Mark

    Rota Vicentina, May 2018

I land in Faro (30 April, and fly back 12 May from Lisbon (yabba-dabba-doo!)

    Anyone have experience with Blablacar?

I've used it three times to get to and from Memmingen (Germany) to Austria (Bregenz, Biberwier). I've never been disappointed. You may also find cheap long distance bus tickets on Flixbus, but I don't think they are very active on the peninsula (yet), buen camino, Mark

    Santiago to Porto, March 2018

I arrive in Santiago late Saturday 17 March 2018, and plan to walk via the Variante Espritual and Camino Portugués (coastal), ideally with a day or two in Porto, whence I fly back (31 March). My initial seemingly straightforward plans have been made more complex by a) the Monasterio de...

    Mosquito net?

Thanks for your reply. I also tend to get bitten (and react badly). Are you saying yes to "are certain people more susceptible", or yes, I should take a mosquito net? Mark

    Mosquito net?

I am walking between Santiago and Porto 17-31 March 2018 (Variante Espiritual, & coastal route). I have a box type mosquito net, should I take it? I am already thinking on a bed bug sheet. Thanks, Mark

    Variante Espiritual from This Weekend

Thanks for this thread. I'm planning to do it (from the north) in March 2018. Unfortunately as you say the monastery at Armenteira, is closed on Mondays, I think I'll stay in Padrón (Sunday), Vilanova de Arousa or Hospedaxe Os Castaños (Monday, 25 euros with breakfast), and get to Armenteira...

Santiago to Porto (Padron, Vilanova de Arousa on Sunday)

Jill, thanks for this. Are there any shops open in Santiago on Sunday? I could stock up on provisions, then get the train to Vilagarcia de Arousa :-). It would cut out what seems to be a dull section, and my current itinerary doesn't allow for any rest days. I could start the real walking on...

Santiago to Porto (Padron, Vilanova de Arousa on Sunday)

I am planning to arrive in Santiago late Saturday 17 March 2018, and get to Padron or Vilanova de Arousa the next day. It seems that there are busses to, and shops open (on Sunday) in the former, but I am wondering if I can get a bus to the latter, and if I can whether there will be any shops...
