My 1st pair of vasque were great. Made in USA. 2nd pair sole delamitated, bad glue. Moved production overseas. Rei would not honor. Over 1 year old. Mailed to vasque on my dime. They did send a replacement pair.
Have surgery. Googled success rate is 80%. If a good surgeon specialized in it, is much higher. Why live in pain? I have no regrets. The neuroma they removed from my foot was the size of a pea. Cortisone is a short term solution.
This is a no brainer. Have surgery, otherwise you will walk irregular and then damage knees & hips.
The Dr said if I had surgery I would possibly loose feeling in my toe. I'll trade that any day for the severe foot pain. What was removed from between my toes at the ball of the foot was the size...
Save a few days & fly into Biarritz via CDG, and then a shuttle to SJP. This will add a few more days for riding & enjoying the adventure. My one regret is I was to focused on time & finishing. This is typical for any first trip. My next trip I will take much more time to smell the roses...
Mine is Dr Bronners Peppermint All One Hemp Soap. I had never used it before the Camino. Forum had recommended it for bathing & washing clothes. Now whenever I shower, the smell of it brings me back to a tight cramped shower feeling wonderfully refreshed.
Most Useful: Zip Ties. Rack slipped & pivoted 90 degrees. Zips worked great. Note the blue zip routed around the cable guide, hence keeping the clamp from slipping back.
Most Useless: UE Boom Portable Speaker. Never used it. Visions of a party on the road?
I agree with Francisco.Only plan 1 or 2 days out max. Take your time. If it’s only a 20 mile day, so what. Be spontaneous. Change plans on the fly if something intrigues you. Don’t let others guilt trip you into walking or riding a set number of miles. Do “your” Camino. Great that your wife...
I rode the Camino in May, solo, Napolean route. While being physically destroyed on day 1, I would fall back on a video I watched, "I'll Push You", a Calvin College lecture.
Today at 6AM, by chance, I met them. We were on the same flight from Boise to LAX.
Their premier showing, a Fandango...
Riding the napolean route is tough. Being the 1st day didn't help. Had good weather then.
No crowd except after Sarria. Then the vibe changes a bit. I biked the few miles (by mistake). I just kept it it low gear & followed behind the masses until trail crossed my road route.
When the walkers...
i just finished the route on my 15 yr old cannondale jekyl, panniers & panaracer knobby tires.
Observations:
Initial plan was riding the walkers route starting with the napoleon. Bad idea. Mostly hike & bike. Never saw 1 other rider. Hiker said they saw 1, but with no luggage.
Books said 15%...
I am flying into Biarritz with my boxed bike in the evening. I plan on spending the night in Biarritz & going to SJP the next morning & then assembling it there.
2 questions: Hotel recommendation very close to airport in BIQ & shuttle tips to get to SJP with boxed bike? Thanks
I am flying Delta in May. Any tips or tricks? Maybe ship it ahead as freight? Any Santiago bike shops that can box bike for trip back, or where I can buy a box to repack it? The main delta flight should be able to handle the oversize box, but can the short leg using a partner airline (air...
