    Pocket knives on trains

    My pack was scanned in Santiago in June and my small pocket knife was picked up. On locating it in my pack the blade length was measured and it was given back to me as it was below the specified length for carrying on the train. The blade is 50mm long.

    61% increase in numbers recorded walking the Invierno

    Walked in May 2024, busiest day was 5 Australians and one Spanish. For most of the route it was 4 Australians and the one Spaniard. Lots of accommodation options, no need to book ahead. A very pleasant change after the hoards on the Frances.

    In 12 Caminos I have never seen or been bitten by a bed bug. Of interest is the fact that bed bug reports do not usually emerge on this forum until July, August or September. Where are they earlier in the season?

    Saw a nice viper In a sunken lane on the CF in Galicia in 2013. It disappeared up the steep bank before l was able to take a photo. Have also seen snakes on the Portuguese in 2015 and the Levante this year.
