Lucca to Rome on Via Francigina

I walked Lucca to Rome mid October to November last year. I encountered 5 on the trail in total. I did see an American group of 4 at one of my stays but never saw them on the trail. It’s a very quiet trail at this time of the year. The weather was rainy cool and foggy in the north particularly...

Florence to Rome through Assisi In Winter - Advice

I hiked from Lucca to Rome November 2023. More wet and damp than cold the first 100k. Perfectly safe, nothing to challenging and longest day was about 32k ish. I stayed mostly in pensions and hotels all of which were great experiences. Buen Camino!

Landing at T-1 but sounds like there are plenty of options non of which are overly complicated. Nice thing about the bus, if you miss one there’s usually one not too far behind. Thanks all for the info. This is a great resource!!

    Waist/front Pack

I’m trying the bellroy venture for the first time. I’m heading out on the Plata October 3 and carrying a 24 litre pack with a 3 litre osprey bladder. Camino Portuguese Coastal Route - Walking alone at 66

Hi Linyloo, I did the costal last year and met Gabby a 75 year old German lady trekking alone who also had recent knee surgery. We did a leg together and shared stories over dinner in Baiona. She would get turned around at times but always found her way with the help of others and her trust app...

    Camino phone SIM

I've used Orange e-sim over the years and am quite pleased. I've never been in any store, all online. I top up my account at home in Canada and once on the plane I flip it over to my number in France and when I land it activates. The only issue I've had was in northern Italy last year during the...

Looking for suggestions where to find an Altus poncho - they are sold out everywhree!

I just purchased a Ferrino rain cape from Amazon. Couldn't find the Altus anywhere. I've always been a rain jacket/pant person however I did the Via Francigena the latter part of last year and the weather proved to be unpredictable and very challenging. The jacket pant pack combo became...

    Merino Wool Shirt Sheep Smell

I've been wearing 100% merino wool for a number of years and have become a true believer..... love the product. One of the attractions advertised was it wouldn't smell after extreme use, so before investing I bought a couple of items, socks and t-shirt and put them through a rigorous test...
