LIVE from the Camino Almost halfway there!

I haven't booked ahead at all and have gotten a bed everytime I've walked into town. There is a lot of panic happening concerning beds though. Ive listened to people at the albergues and many are spending their time calling ahead. I think, in my case anyway, it's been unnecessary. I think people...

LIVE from the Camino Almost halfway there!

Currently in Fromista about 32 miles from the halfway point of the Frances! Did approx 22 miles today. Going to have a shorter day tomorrow. Life is great on the Camino for this Pilgrim! Only 1 rain day but mornings have been pretty chilly. Mid 40's F. Glad I brought my hat and gloves! Meeting...

Lol....yes the 19th! I'm losing track of the days already!!

    Nervous first timer

I started in Saint Jean on April 29. I havnt pre-booked any of the days and haven't had a problem getting a bed. What I've been seeing is a lot of people pre-booking the private rooms. If your ok with the bunk rooms, particularly at the municipal albergues, you should be OK. Don't be nervous...

    Plantar fasciitis.

I suffered PF a few years ago. What ended up working for me was wearing a Strassburg Sock at night. https://www.amazon.es/Strassburg-Calcet%C3%ADn-Estrasburgo-Fascitis-Estiramiento/dp/B00JB2UDTQ

LIVE from the Camino Day 5 of the Frances!

I thought I replied to this but it apparently didn't take! I brought my 45 degree sleeping bag and that's been fine for me. For the mornings which have been chilly, I would recommend bringing a warm had and gloves. Not ski gloves but something to protect you from the wind and morning chill.

LIVE from the Camino Day 5 of the Frances!

Experienced the first day of rain so far. It was mostly light but it lasted most of the day. Made the air a bit chilly but tolerable. I went from Manero to Villamayor today. Spent most of the day alone! Even got to enjoy the wine fountain in Irache by myself! Beun Camino!!

LIVE from the Camino CF day 1, off to a great start!

I took Nepoleon. It's open but the few days before I started there was heavy rain and visibility was nothing! I've met several people that went over the day before me and they say it was terrible!

LIVE from the Camino CF day 1, off to a great start!

Left Saint Jean this morning at 7am. Got to Roncesvalles just before 1:30. Weather was clear and beautiful! I didn't pre book, and was able to get a bed. I did hear they were all full by 4pm though. Very happy with my first day on the Camino!

    Wisepilgrim app

No, not really. It's more for judging distance for planning out the day. I figured I was being a little too picky about it. Even as I was typing the post...! Thanks for all the replies though!

    Wisepilgrim app

I was looking at the wisepilgrim app for the Frances route and noticed that the distances don't always add up from one side to the other. Has anyone else noticed this? Am I being overly observant about it!! Lol!

    Trekking Poles

Hi Woody, any idea what the price of purchasing in SJPDP would be? I was going to check my poles for the flight from US. If the cost isnt to high, I may just purchase a pair when I arrive in SJPDP next week and keep my current pair for when I hike on my return home. Thanks!

    Trekking Poles

Hi misspenn! The larger round attachments are probably the snow baskets. You wont need those. The smaller rubber tips are good for pavement but quickly get worn down to nothing. They do stop the clicking sound from the tips which is nice. I find that trekking poles are also good for setting a...

    Water, water...

One of the apps I have does show potable water locations! Which is great! Thanks! Lol...that's my thing! I'm use to wilderness/mountains hiking and will usually go through more water due to the strenuous nature of hiking. I'm guessing I won't need as much water for walking through country side!

    Water, water...

Hi all! Starting the Frances route next week in SJPDP and was wondering how much water do most people carry? I'm an avid hiker/backpacker and usually carry at least 2 liters. More from a fear of running out and not being able to refill than actually needing that much! Thanks!

    Booking return flights!

Hi all. Im flying out from the US in a couple weeks to start the French route. I hadn’t booked a return flight yet as I dont know exactly when ill be finishing. I was going to wait till I was halfway and make a decision then. How has everyone else handled this? Did you book your return flight...
