Hola,
We are 3/4 cycling the CDN on normal MTB in our 60's and are managing. I believe Frances is relatively flat so should be a doddle with non-ebike. Your biggest worry will be negotiating the walkers, so bring a hooter.
ps we have Bern spinning for 12 years so have pretty good fitness.
Having started our cycling Camino odyssey in Bilbao we are now recovering in Oviedo before returning to Gijon and the CDN.
It has been a beautiful and challenging experience. We are trying to stay true to the Camino route even if it's meant pushing our; electric free, pannier laden steeds up...
Dear pilgrim companions. We are currently cycling the CDN, battery free, and will soon arrive in Gijon. We have arranged to spend the arrival night here then catch train/bus to Oviedo for 2 nights then back to Gijon for a further night before continuing ourbonward journey to Santiago.
Our...
Hi there. Our 'on the spot' findings so far are places are OK but we are calling ahead on a rolling week basis and not necessarily staying in the main pilgrim albergue. We have bikes and try to find a place that has double rooms
We are cycling and are two people, currently in Santander. We ideally want to book a double room. However we are finding the prices shown on Gronze are sometimes substantially higher when we make direct contact with the hostel. E.g 40€+ on Gronze per night 65€ in reality. It begs the question...
I'd be grateful if anyone walking or cycling the CDN could advise the current ground conditions, what effect has the rain had on the surface.
Thank you and I hope you are all having an amazing time. We are leaving tomorrow. Buen Camino!
Yes we may see you although we are starting from Bilbao on bicycles. We have the first 5 nights booked so will then make reservations on a rolling 5 days.
Thanks for your input.
Buen Camino
We are planning to cycle en route as well as doing alternatives and off piste to stay near the coast, and the views. Very much play it by ear when we're there.
Thanks trecile. We were thinking we'd have to use cheap private accom mostly but hoping to use the odd albergue where they had facilities for us, plus book ahead.
We are using our own manual, blood, sweat and tears bikes, so no charging required. Taking them all the way from home in Lymington, Hampshire.
Thanks for the advice. We are currently doing a run through, using Gronze, of places we are likely to stay at each checkpoint, so will factor in what...
Hi all,
We are a bit concerned about being able to get accomodation as we are cycling the CDN this May/June. I read that pilgrims on foot get priority up to 8pm. We are aiming to arrive each day around 3-4pm and do not want our accomodation left to chance. This is a concern. However we really...
Hey there. Thank you for your reply. We are indeed starting at Irun. Not sure of the route yet. I've been reading various forums that suggest we an follow a good part of the walkers path but in some cases it might be too narrow or too difficult so we will need to jump onto roads. We definitely...
