Cercanías line closed from Madrid Airport to Chamartín train station till October

Two weeks ago I took an Uber from Chamartin to an airport hotel near terminal 1 and it cost less than 18 euros. I thought it would be a lot more. I had planned on taking the metro but I arrived in Madrid later than expected.

    Santiago traditions?

I hugged the saint about a week ago. There are signs recommending that you don't (for sanitary reasons) but you still can. I did it twice, once in the afternoon when there was a huge line and it felt weird and rushed and once before the 930 mass when it was empty and more chill. Both times there...

    Waist/front Pack

I have a hydration tube that screws into a plastic water bottle (in my case a 1l smart water bottle) which slips into a side pocket on my pack. It's easy to refill and see how much water I have left. I wear a 2l fanny pack from REI which works nicely for me.

    BUDGET 2025 - Chemin du Puy (GR65) to Santiago 1 adult 2 kids :)

I started walking on May 27 and finished on Aug 3rd. The weather in France was colder than I expected (5-10 deg the first week or so) and rainier. Spain was hot but not unbearably. My first camino was in July 2022 and it was 40f on the meseta so that was my baseline. It was a lot cooler this...

    BUDGET 2025 - Chemin du Puy (GR65) to Santiago 1 adult 2 kids :)

Can't speak to the children aspect but I walked Le Puy to SJPP (and then on to Finisterre) this past June. I spent 3100eur on the Via Podiensis route, staying in a mixture of gites and hotels. That doesn't include expenses getting to le Puy. It took me 33 days to arrive in SJPDP and that...

    Cabo Finisterre - which direction?

Nope, I also use mapy and there are some green arrows spray painted on the sidewalk. The weather was fantastic and I am hoping for a nice sunset tonight on the beach that the alternative trail also leads to. No need to walk back out to the lighthouse. I am done walking lol

Sobrado dos Monxes to O Pedrouzo

I did this last year, it's very easy but once you get on the shortcut there are few services so bring snacks and lunch. It's all flat. My recollection is that it was all paved road but very little car traffic. I ended up walking to Lavacola (47km) because I don't like OPedrouzo.

    Cabo Finisterre - which direction?

Ok, I did this route this morning. 100% (x1000!!) recommend! It was magical. I just finished walking 1688km and would have hated having to spend the last few km walking along a road with buses and cars speeding by. I am shocked this alternative route isn't more popular - it is fantastic.

    Cabo Finisterre - which direction?

Ok your second picture sold me. I will take that route. Now hopefully I have as nice as weather as you did!

    Cabo Finisterre - which direction?

Ha. I am specifically interested in the 3 km to and from the Finisterre lighthouse. Will just have time to walk to Finisterre and then maybe bus to Muxia for an afternoon before heading back to Santiago for an early train.

What’s the queue time for the Compostela in Santiago?

The Via Podiensis and Frances. Everything was great and I have been happily enjoying Santiago and running into friends I haven't seen in weeks! Now if only it could be a bit cooler here... Haha

    Cabo Finisterre - which direction?

Hi, in a few days I will be walking to Cabo Finisterre. I am planning on walking the road in one direction and the alternative trail in the other direction to make a loop walk. Is one particular direction better than the other? Thanks!

What’s the queue time for the Compostela in Santiago?

I just got mine yesterday. Got on line about 210pm (I had registered for my qr code the night before) and waited about 10 min. When I left at 230 there was no one online. I found my experience with the person who gave me my Compostela to not be the greatest, it might have been a...

    Spanish alternative to Gehwol blue?

A little late for me but I did just stumble across a souvenir shop in Palas de Rei selling Gehwol foot cream (not the blue, however)! It's right across from restaurant Xeou.

"The Way, My Way" free screening in Santiago. 23 July 2024.

Do you know if there will be an extended showing of this in Santiago? I arrive Sun and would love to see it!

    Demographics of Le Puy

None at all. A lot of the people on it were preexisting friend groups. There were a few solo walkers who I would occasionally run into but never really walked with anyone. This is vastly different than the Frances, of course. I am sure it happens occasionally but during the month I was on it I...

    Demographics of Le Puy

I just walked this last month. Definitely an older crowd (I am 45), esp to Conques. Most of the people I met were older than me. Apparently if you walk in the summer there are more younger people when school is out of session. I think a bigger concern for socializing would be if you don't speak...

Is late April too early for Camino Le Puy

I started on may 27 and found the weather in June to range from really cold to really hot to rainy to very muddy. The weather made it very challenging. But I definitely had less rain than you did.

Is late April too early for Camino Le Puy

Oh I don't know about that, esp toward the end. There were a few days when I walked 30k+ days and didn't come across any shops at all. I had to start carrying cans of coke to get some caffeine in the afternoon.

    Spanish alternative to Gehwol blue?

Hi- I have been slathering Gehwol Blue foot cream on to my feet each night on all of my Caminos. My feet seem to love it and happy feet make me happy. I am currently on the Frances, after finishing the Via Podiensis, and am down to my last tube. I have about 3 weeks left so will need to get...
