LIVE from the Camino A Swan Song?

Speaking of tee-shirts.... Where did you get the one you shared with us in a photo at the beginning of this thread? I'd buy one of those in a heart beat! (For my own probable swan song next April.)

Best places to stay from Sahagún to León.

I'll suggest the Piedras Blancas, in El Burgo Ranero.... and the Albergueria del Camino, in Mansilla de las Mulas.... This snorer has stayed in both, and liked them.

    Pilgrim Office in Leon?

I got a Pilgrim Passport a few years back at the wonderful big albergue on the Plaza del Grano.... Perhaps they can help!?

    "El Peregrino Pasante"

Time marches on! ... Can anyone provide an update on the current status of El Peregrino Pasanate? Has he been in his booth this year? Will he be there next year?

    Civil war memorials

A reminder that the Feast oi the Martyrs of the Spanish Civil War will soon be upon us, I believe..... I attach a September 2021 photo I took of the memorial inside Leon Cathedral honoring the Leonese priests and seminarians murdered 1936-39.

    Busy busy busy

Albergue Pata y Oca in Torres del Rio is excellent.

    Civil war memorials

There is (or was when I visited in 2015) a memorial plaque on the facade of the parish church in Clavijo honoring the local boys who fell fighting for the Nationalist cause.

    Taxi needed

In 2021, after hurting my foot to such a degree that I had to give up walking, I took the 3:15 PM MONBUS bus from Piedrafita to SdeC.... I have nothing bad to say about it!.... Cheap, almost empty, and as comfortable as a bus can be..... It tracks the Camino route very closely: O Cebreiro...

    Jewish Quarters?

The Jewish Quarter in Burgos was adjacent to the Arco de San Martin, and very close to the home of El Cid, if memory serves.... Sort of on the way out of town from el centro. Not sure if there's anything to see in it's regard....

    Splurge-Worthy

That was my "Hurt Foot Camino" and I was keeping daily distances down.... Walked from Ponferrada to Cacabelos, and the next day from Cacabelos to Villafranca. Two short, easy, delightful days!

    Easter 2025 on the Frances

Still tempted by an event-focused Holy Week trip.... And contemplating the April 2025 calendar, I see that I could easily do Palm Sunday in Logrono, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday in Burgos, and Easter Sunday in Leon. Bussing between the towns should be easy and cheap.... But IF I decide to do...

    Splurge-Worthy

Reminds me of my charming 2021 room at the Hostal Siglo XIX in Cacabelos, with its spacious enclosed balcony overlooking the town church.

    Easter 2025 on the Frances

Logrono is looking better and better for me for next Easter.... I know that many pilgrims just blow thru it, but I stopped there and explored it in 2012, 2015 and 2019, and have fond memories of it. Outside the casco viejo it reminds me of the Mexico City I grew up in in the early 1960s...

    Easter 2025 on the Frances

The Logrono site you pushed to me is AWESOME! Gracias!

    Easter 2025 on the Frances

My first visit to the Camino was in 1977. My first full Frances was in 2012. My most recent visit was in October 2023. (And I did many in between....) I'm a Camino veteran, OK?! My heart lives on the Camino! That said, as an ordained clergyman I was never free to visit Spain for Holy Week...

    St. Lawrence of Brindisi

Tomorrow (July 21st) is the Feast of St. Lawrence of Brindisi, OFM Cap, Doctor of the Church, d. 1619, who lies in peace in the chapel of the cloistered Poor Clare's Convento de la Annunciada in Villafranca del Bierzo. I don't think that many pereginos are aware of that.... Some years back...

Transport between Santiago Airport and Sarria?

Alright, I confess! I used MONBUS once, and did it! And I'd do it again! Bwahahaha!
