    Busy busy busy

Caught, I am. I am at home, lying in my bed, recovering from my 34 hour trip back to Aotearoa New Zealand and remembering my Camino from last week. For my own reasons, I had booked my return flight for the 13th of September and so I ended my Camino Aragonés in Logroño. I enjoyed the Aragonés...

    Busy busy busy

You didn't talk to me and I happily report that there are plenty of beds to be had at Donativo and Municipal albergues. Especially in the smaller towns that are not listed as end points or stage endings on various guides It seems as if we walk different Caminos.

    Annual September Bed Race

Wow, I wonder why that was? When I look, even using the cursed b.com I can see available beds.

    Annual September Bed Race

They must have been sleeping very late. The photo was taken on entry to Logroño at around 3 pm.

    Annual September Bed Race

I stopped at Logroño last week and while the Camino Frances was busier than the Camino Aragonés I had no problems getting a bed without reservations. I certainly didn't encounter anyone else with problems. Morning traffic on the Aragonés. Morning traffic on the Frances. Unfortunately...

    Arriving in SJPDP

Hi, it sounds like you are resourceful and willing to learn. In my experience this will get you through and you will have a great Camino. I left on what is still probably the busiest day recorded without any reservations and I never had an instance where I didn't have a bed. Walk your Camino...

    Backpack transfer process?

I interpret the phrase "in general" to include exceptions in some cases. Possibly your interpretation differs 😊

Options if Orisson is fully booked?

As @trecile said, I think that they do pick up there but they tend to recommend picking up at Vierge Orrison although I have never bothered to ask why.

    Backpack transfer process?

Some albergues don't want to participate in bag transfer services and that is their choice. If you are planning to stay somewhere that isn't listed as either a pickup or dropoff place then contact the bag transfer agency and ask them for advice. They don't say because it varies. In general...

Clint Eastwood and spaghetti western near Burgos.

I stayed at the monastery at Santo Domingo de Silos last year and walked out to Sad Hill. There had been a lot of wildfires in the area and much of the vegetation was destroyed.

Accommodations as bad as Booking.com shows ???

Thank you very much for this information, you and your fellow volunteers do a great job! I think, though that 3:30 am should probably read 3:30 pm??? All the best and thanks again!!!

Accommodations as bad as Booking.com shows ???

The beginning of September is often busy from St. Jean through Zubiri on the Frances. This wave of pilgrims usually quickly subsides and by the 24th of September in St. Jean things should be much more manageable. Roncesvalles has a fixed number of beds and so it can ve a bottleneck if the...

Accommodations as bad as Booking.com shows ???

I am walking at the moment and I don't reserve ahead and I have not had any problems getting a bed whenever I stop. Tonight there are three pilgrims in an albergue that can take 26. I do tend to stay in Donativo and Municipal Albergues though. If you want your own room and all the comforts of...

    Trains and sims

Unfortunately that website does not provide unbiased information. They are paid according to the number of people who follow their links. In my experience Movistar have quite good coverage across Spain but no better than Vodafone. The downside with Movistar is that they have awful customer service.

    Trains and sims

Wow, I guess that you talk to different people than I do. I don't recollect anyone else recommending Móvil. But each to their own opinion.

Pilgrims Behaving Badly - Is the Camino Frances full?

I am so pleased when people bring up these tired criticisms of the various Caminos. I am also overjoyed when yet another person says that they won't be doing a Camino because of overcrowding (or any reason, actually). Thank you, thank you, thank you! .... Written from a Camino nearby.

July pilgrim numbers from the SJPDP pilgrim office

Then, of course, there are the people who publish statistics without providing accurate context.
