    OMG Tinc, I think you are going way out on a very dodgy limb with something as imperative as "There WILL be a replacement bus." We are talking about the vicissitudes of the SNCF and their relationship with their mutable labor union the CGT.

    I took the train from Santander to exit the Norte due to nasty weather and start a walk along the Canal de Castilla. It was lovely trip and there were stops along the way that would have been great places to hop off and start walking south to Fromista.

    If you fly to Paris make sure you are arriving at CDG and give yourself a minimum of 3 or 4 hours for the connection to Delta. Lisbon is also a gateway for Delta.

    As Nanners has suggested, change your travel dates. If you are really that anxious about a storm that might materialize, then leave early and spend a day or two in Biarritz or Bayonne. What have you got to lose?

    Laurie, I was not dissing taxi drivers because I know they can be great guides. It was just the notion of taking a taxi off route to find a restaurant and then find your way back later in the day.

    My suggestions is to stick close to the Camino and find places to eat within walking distance of your accommodations. Taxi drivers can be very unreliable.
