    Food poisoning- A personal account

In June 2019 just after I had walked through Leon, about 5 hours after I had eaten I got serious diarrhoea and vomiting about 25 times all night. In the morning I felt so bad I was collected by an ambulance and was in hospital in Leon for 2 days. After the tests they did they said it was a fish...

Ferry from England to France and Spain

A couple of times I got to Hendaye a little late so with the weather being OK I slept outside the station locked entry door until the first train to Bayonne in the very early morning. So arriving in SJPP just after 9am I got my credential and walked straight off to Roncesvalles the same day.

Ferry from England to France and Spain

I have travelled on Brittany Ferries from Plymouth to Santander several times. Then a bus to Uran, a short walk across the border into France to Hendaye rail station, then a train to Bayonne for the final journey by bus or train to SDPP. After completing my Camino a bus directly from SdC back...

Monte de Gozo - statue commemorating visit of pope has been removed

The monument was certainly deteriorating. I took these two photos in 2014 and 2018 which show the monument getting very rusty and also the concrete pyramid getting worse with a hole in it.

Opinion on Son walking the Camino

I have walked several times on my own. 3 days after one of my sons was 16 we left home and travelled to walk the Camino Frances. We walked together from St Jean Pied de Port to Santiago and walked on to Finesterre and finally to Muxia. He loved it including staying in Albergues and enjoying all...

Does the Pilgrim office in St Jean still have transport to the Cross?

I assume the cross is Thibault Cross which is where the Route Napoleon leaves the road and continues up on a walking path.

Pilgrimage in England: Winchester to Canterbury

My pilgrimage in Spain this year has cancelled and I am making no such journey anywhere until next year. The Pont Aven is still stuck in Brest and so Sunday's sailing from Plymouth to Santander has also now been cancelled. I have been refunded from my booking and have now booked to get to Bayonne by coach via London and Paris and will arrive in Bayonne at almost the same time as planned by the...

    Sailing to Santander cancelled!

Tomorrow night's sailing from Plymouth to Roscoff has now also been cancelled, so further sailings are likely to get cancelled as well. The timetables for Pont Aven have had all sailings removed until May 19th, so maybe my May 12th sailing will not be going, but I have not yet had any contact...
