    Favorite end of day shoes

In Obanos after the shower and eagerly awaiting dinner right now. Birkenstock Eva foam. Buen Camino

    Favorite end of day shoes

Absolutely love them. Super lightweight, comfortable and some support. Adjustable for none or any weight socks. And they come in a fabulous variety of colors (I got kind of carried away). I have silver ones with me on this Camino--for formal occasions I accessorize with silver earrings.

    Favorite end of day shoes

Birkenstock EVA foam sandals. Light as a feather. Good enough for a few km around town in the evening if not too much cobblestone walking. Perfecto for the albergue. Buen Camino

I'll try those. I just saw some at REI. They look like a great option.

    thin lightweight flip-flops?

Xero sandals are super lightweight, durable and secure.

    thin lightweight flip-flops?

I took crocs with me. In addition to their big clunky style that one normally associates with crocs, they make lightweight ones as well. Sturdy enough to walk around town or even one day, the last mile to town, and super light weight and compact..

    thin lightweight flip-flops?

    Crocs !!!

    thin lightweight flip-flops?

Look into buying a pair of Tom's loafers. They are super lightweight and you can wear them at night especially if it is cold or rainy and your trail runners are wet. Also for every pair you buy Tom's gives a pair away somewhere in the world to a child that needs shoes. Unless of course you want...

    thin lightweight flip-flops?

Buy cheap ones you can bin at the end. Watch out for slippery floors in rooms and bathrooms - flip flops don’t do well on wet floors.

    thin lightweight flip-flops?

searching for ultralightweight flip-flops, no luck yet. all seem to be a bit thick and heavy. I used to carry a 7.9oz/223g pair of Birkenstock EVA slides, they take up too much room and really not needed. my walking shoes are comfortable.

Another question from Marska ... sorry all!

Ditch the umbrella, wind and rain it will be useless, baseball cap better than wide brimmed hat as it works better with the altus poncho, stick with the poncho, provides better all round protection from rain if you do hit a wet patch. So 1 pair of shoes for walking (trail runners) and sandals...

Another question from Marska ... sorry all!

125$ a pair? Pretty. But awful expensive. If you don't want Crocs, search online for EVA sandals; Birkenstock has them, and there are plenty of cheap imitations. Comfy, not heavy. Also someone upthrend suggested Oofos, and I second the suggestion - as slippers I like them a lot.

Another question from Marska ... sorry all!

...keep my dang hair out of my face, and it hung down just enough to shield the back of my lily white neck!). For footwear, I brought EVA Birkenstocks (8 oz!) to wear after walking, and little cheapie flip-flops for showering. For rain gear, I bought an Altus poncho in Pamplona, plus a pack...

Multipurpose shoes for shower and town?

I used to wear flipflops, but my joints and tendons are not so happy with flipflops anymore. On my last Camino I took my Teva sandals, which are great for around town. But for the shower/walking to the toilet at night I would prefer slip-on shoes. So now I am doubting between Crocs and...

Multipurpose shoes for shower and town?

For me, no problem with sunlight. But sticking them in the dryer on the other hand was a mistake I made only once!

Multipurpose shoes for shower and town?

Love my Berks. Super lightweight like crocs but I imagine the foot bed is more anatomically designed than crocs. Super useful when your primary footwear is causing problems so you can walk long distances with them but lightweight and great for skanky showers!

Multipurpose shoes for shower and town?

Be careful hanging them from your pack. My Croc sandals shrunk this way! (I also had some regular Crocs at home and kept them outside by my backdoor. Those also shrunk.) I am not sure if it's the heat or the sunlight that does this, but it's a thing. I suspect the heat. I am bringing...

Multipurpose shoes for shower and town?

Best recommendation is either something like Crocs or the EVA foam Birkenstock (or generic types). Hang them securely on the outside of your rucksack. A strap with a side clip buckle is a good choice. I favor bright, Neon colors, as they can be spotted from a distance if accidentally dropped on...
