    Shower shoes

...protection a couple of mm of rubber gives you when you are standing in a pool of water in a slow draining shower. On this year's and last year's Caminos I used SportSlick on my feet every day as part of my anti-blister regimen. It has the added benefit of containing an anti-fungal ingredient.

    My new anti blister strategy

Vaseline on my feet before I put my socks on, works for me every time.

    My new anti blister strategy

What works for me is silk stockings below merino socks. No blisters at all.

    My new anti blister strategy

Vicks serves a dual purpose. Provides moisture and controls odor.

    My new anti blister strategy

I went St. Jean to Santiago last September in $24 boots from Big 5—because they'd served me well for many years (though not physically the same boots, of course)—and REI walking socks. The way I avoided blisters was being mentally attuned to "hot spots" and putting tape over any that showed up...

    My new anti blister strategy

...would be easier to pull these on than to apply tape every day. They take care of all of my problem areas. First I apply a coating of Sportslick to my feet then pull on these half toe socks. I'm wearing them under my WrightSocks double layer socks, so the balls of my feet actually have...

Clothing for "packing smart"/not overpacking for Camino Primitivo (second half of Sept 2022)

Indeed, flip flops often don't provide much protection, especially in standing water. And they have the potential to be very slippery on slick surfaces, especially if one is not used to wearing them. I once saw a pilgrim take a nasty fall; the poor guy's feet slide right out from underneath...

Clothing for "packing smart"/not overpacking for Camino Primitivo (second half of Sept 2022)

I have never seen the point of wearing skimpy flip flops in a slow draining shower while you are standing in an inch or more of water. I'm thinking of using Sportslick on my feet not only for blister prevention, but because it also contains antibacterial and an antifungal ingredients.

    Help with blisters!

...a ruck in the military (not known for quality equipment), I found the tricks that worked for me, and gave me 2 zero blister Camino. Clean, dry feet, a light use is Sportslick between the toes and any areas were friction may occur, and a pair of clean, dry Wright socks. http://www.sportslick.com/

Recommendations for Foot Glide to Prevent Blisters During Camino Walk

2Toms and Engo blister patches worked well for me - Thanks Dave :) I wonder what experience anyone had with Sportslick? In addition to preventing blisters, chafing, rashes with waterproof (siliconized) moisturizer, it also contains an antibacterial (Triclosan) and antifungal (Tonaftate) to...

Video: How to Avoid Blisters - It Can be Done

...socks (Feetures, Darn Tough, Smart Wool) (I prefer no liner) is that they fit as tight as possible without cutting off circulation. 2) Sportslick is a hybrid a waterproof lubricant, antifungal and antibacterial. In addition to lubrication it helps prevent fungal infection and jock itch. A...

No Blisters over 560 Km (or any other foot issues)!

...half of CF with my wife (our plan for 2017). I thought I'd be very proactive on foot care this year so I changed socks mid-day and used SportSlick (an anti-friction like vaseline) in the mornings and at mid-day sock change. Welp, I got large blisters on the balls of both feet. Large enough...

Medical assistance for multiple large blisters, both feet!

...I suggest doing that even with Compeed. Once it begins to fall off, carefully remove it using isopropyl alcohol if necessary. The alcohol will help dissolve both the gel and the adhesive. Prevent blisters with a lubricant applied several times a day. I like SportSlick and 2Toms silicone roll on.

Has anyone used a trekking umbrella?

...Gaiters work, but for some reason, I have failed to put them on before it rains, so I don't take them any more. The Tilley hat rules!! My most used item is my 2x2 piece of plastic as a sitting mat, rain or shine. Sportslick is my essential anti-blister treatment. Two Toms silicone is close.

    Yes another blister question

...is to stop every four hours of hiking, and air your feet and let your socks dry in the sun. After the blister -I also started using Sportslick or you can use vaseline to give your feet a light coating. I did that AFTER my blister incident, and I was fine the rest of the trip. People here...

    Vaseline...or Vicks VapoRub?

I have used it, however, SportSlick, vaseline and silicone, is a better foot ointment. However, Vaporub on feet has been shown to be good for a headache!!

"Gloves in a Bottle" for blister prevention?

I don't think any kind of lotion or petroleum products will prevent blisters that are caused by toes rubbing or overlapping on each other. Only thing I found worked was wide sandals/shoes and either wrapping a toe or a gel sleeve. Some people find the toe socks work, too.
