    How hard are these stages?

Hola - again some good advice. One small question - you do not say where you are commencing your camino. If its from Astorga then yes you are advised to split the longer stages as you and your body adapt to the Camino. If this stage comes along after 14 or 20 days then you will be a lot more...

    How hard are these stages?

...Del Bierzo Villafranca to O Cebriero Both of these are over 15 miles. How hard are they? And has anyone taken the alt route from Villafranca called the Pradela? It's listed as an alternative to the regular or the Dragonte in Brierly and it sounds nice. If you have taken this, how hard is it?

Dragonte Route Has New Yellow Arrows

Oooh, excellent! I was going to chance the Dragonte in 2013 but woke up to low lying mist and rain so didn't chance it after hearing stories of people being lost (I have a terrible sense of direction at the best of times!). Maybe this year?!....

Dragonte Route Has New Yellow Arrows

Previous threads here have featured articles about the Dragonte route out of Villafranca del Bierzo. A common thread (pun intended) in these articles has been how easy it was to get lost on the Dragonte, due to poor, or non-existing, way marking. Last autumn, Matt Sanchez, from Vega de Valcarce...

Camino Dragonte: Villafranca del Bierzo to O Cebreiro

...remarkable day...a day I will always remember! The route has already been beautifully described in this thread so I'll just add that the Dragonte was the most challenging day for me on the Camino Frances. I also remember that I did not have enough food and I was so hungry by the time I...

I`m [was] Off again!! [now back with some narrative...]

...friends who were so nice in answering all my questions and helped me with one more planning and preparation! I`ll try to write a Post on the Camino Aragones and the Dragonte, but other that that, I want to stay away from internet!!! Nothing but love to you all! Buen Camino and Ultreia! Vagner

Post Camino Question- Route from Cacabelos to Villefranca

...early morning on the highway and my priority that day was the variant after Villafranca, which I expected to be quite challenging. (Not the Dragonte, the comparatively easy variant that descends into Trabadelo.) In the end that variant proved spectacular but it was challenging for at most a...

    The Dragonte Option

Great stuff, there should be an arrow on a rock there by the new digger path on the ground - you may have missed it, or it may have been moved! I'm really glad you found it ok and I hope many more will be encouraged to take this beautiful route!

Camino Dragonte: Villafranca del Bierzo to O Cebreiro

Ola! Couldn't read the link, but I think if you have Brierley, Brent's account, the new yellow arrows and a general sense of direction, you will be fine. We didn't put up a great number of arrows, but if you keep your eyes open you should be fine. Buen camino!

Camino Dragonte: Villafranca del Bierzo to O Cebreiro

Hi there @BrentHocking and @Rabatdoghomer ; Once again, I appreciate the thorough narration on the Dragonte. It`s on my plans to give it a go this next december ( I reckon I ll be hitting villafranca around dec 11th) unless the weather is really really nasty on those days. To make sure I...

Camino Dragonte: Villafranca del Bierzo to O Cebreiro

Hello, Brent. I enjoyed reading your article, having got lost in 2015 on the Dragonte, with no guidebook, etc. I seemed to have got lost in the same places you did. I also did not know that one would have to actually walk IN a small river for awhile. I turned around when I came to that place but...

    The Dragonte Option

I walked the Dragonte yesterday (Oct 13) without getting lost once, and probably due to your well placed little arrows, Matt! Thanks to you & Patrick for taking the time to do it. The one place I had doubts about was OK the second ascent after the old ruins at the bottom. The hairpin path up...

    The Dragonte Option

The owner of the Albergue Leo in Villafranca have a museum house in Dragonte that they are thinking of opening up as an albergue in the near future! I have also heard that in Villasinde they may have one in 2018

    The Dragonte Option

I've walked the Dragonte option on all three of my caminos and plan on walking it again when I hit it this November, currently in Toulouse on the Arles way, I never got lost or saw another pilgrim on the route. It's a nice quiet beautiful option but not for everyone I suppose. It definitely...

    The Dragonte Option

The Dragonte option is one of the few remaining ways to make one's Camino unique. A map and markings may make it easier. Adding some cafes and beds would be even better!

    The Dragonte Option

Hi all, APOC member Patrick Eibergen and I have spent a few days last week waymarking the whole Dragonte route from Villafranca del Bierzo to Las Herrerias for those intrepid enough to walk it. We believe that it's now doable without getting lost, and for those looking for the correct exit in...

Two pilgrims lost and found in SJPP-Roncesvalles

...this Caminos, while walking with a few of his highschool students. He was determined to find a alternative route to get to O'Cebreiro, the Dragonte route, back in 2008 or so, when the Frances was still relatively quiet and that alternative very little known. He had tried to find the route the...

Camino Dragonte: Villafranca del Bierzo to O Cebreiro

Any updates on marking this route? We should be there around the first week of October. Also, my wife insists that she is not going to do this unless there are chestnut groves, as there are on the high route on the north side the valley. So, are there chestnut groves? Thanks, Jo Jo
