    Tarmac percentages on the VdlP

I wore trekking boots on my first Camino and midway I bought a pair of trekkers. I found the boots way to heavy and rigid, on the other hand the trekkers were lightweight had a good solid sole and I’ve used trekkers on my last five and they’ve never let me down and walking through the summer you...

Starting VDLP in Seville - better to stay in Triana?

Hi jack I start in June and I’ve decided to stay in Triana, the pilgrim office is 5mins walk away and you’re also on the right side of the river to start and breakfast is included in the 15euros price. A couple of pilgrims have stayed there and rate it very good.

    VDLP - Info about Seville

Hi fellow pilgrims I’m putting this out there to the pilgrim community. Having walked the Frances and Norte Caminos I’m planning my last Camino next June. What I need is some information about Seville. Is there a pilgrim office in Seville to get your passport and first stamp or do I need to...

    It's been 5 months...

I completely understand your feelings as I did after my first, next year I’m walking my sixth and plan walking the VDLP. Reach out to the community on U tube there are thousands around who have walked it and planning to do so. You are not alone.

    Reservations - when?

You can reserve a room the seminario I stayed there last year for two nights. It has everything, a laundry room with lots of washing and drying machines and a sort of supermarket where you can stock up, get coffee and other drinks and some hot snacks, pizza and alike. I paid 18euros a night for...

With a bus from SdC - Porto Airport

The schedule barely ever changes so you can be pretty safe with the current schedule. Definitely use the coach, it’s cheaper by far, comfortable and they have scheduled stops and it comes with usb ports.

    Cycling the VDLP

I used bike Iberia to cycle the Camino Francés. I ordered an off road bike 24speed, it was a Giant excellent condition, lightweight with a frame for my panniers and a small tool box. You’ve made the right choice I never cycle the CF again and if I’d known what it was going to be like I wouldn’t...

    Shoes (again)

I don’t know if you have narrow feet as I do but I find merril trekkers so much better. Yes the cushioning is not the best so I just inserted a cushion shaped insert and they were excellent. I didn’t have a single blister last year and I’m using them again next June for the vdlp, they have a...

Walking the Camino as a shy person

Hello Emma First of all you’re choosing the best Camino to mix and build friendships, the Frances even in May is well walked. I am not a shy person but I am private and very selective who and when I choose to strike up an a conversation with someone preferably female, I find they are far more...

Hi Kevin Like you I started my Caminos in 2015 and been walking them ever since. I’m 69 this year and I’ve decided after the injuries and operations I’ve put my body through certainly in the past 4yrs I’m allowing myself one more Camino next year, so I’m going to walk the vdlp and go out in...

    Death on the trail today

Extremely sad news. A loss of a loved one or friend is hard to bare. I know exactly how you feel, I’ve lost my two brothers within four months of each other this year and I’m still trying to come to terms with it. I am walking the vdlp next June in his memory as my last pilgrimage. At least...

Oldtimers can I pick your brains for a sec ?

I’m walking the vdlp next year starting in mid June. The expected temperature will be around 30 degrees which to be honest is not that much different to the meseta in July August so I find walking in those temperatures quite comfortable and easy on the muscles.

Oldtimers can I pick your brains for a sec ?

Hi Joro Like you I’ve been walking the Caminos since 2015 and I’ve decided I want to do one more so next year June -July I’m walking the vdlp, 45 days with a few rest days thrown in so I’ll probably plan 50 days for the whole journey.

    How to go to Finisterre?

It’s definitely worth doing finisterre, staying overnight not really. You can buy your ticket from the bus station which is about 20mindms from the cathedral. If the ticket office is closed you can use the ticket machine. The express coach takes 90mins the standard coach about two and a half...

    Splitting bills with fellow pilgrims

Like you robin im more senior in my years and far more conscious regarding eating out together. The restaurant and staff are only doing their jobs and if someone didn’t take charge it usually results in a confrontation which is not fair on the staff. Last year I was faced with a similar...
