    Even in a cool Mid-May in the Galician mountains there were lots of flowers and colours. Here a few impressions from the Invierno: Cistus some gardens Poppies Broom-shrubs everywhere in white and yellow Lavender Calla flowers in a road-ditch and my favourite: Have fun!

    Albergues for sale

    Sad to see Albergue Juntos in Boadilla on the list. In 2022 I stayed there, when the place was run by a charming Dutch couple who advertised "Best pancakes on the camino" all the way to Boadilla. It was true. The pancakes after communal dinner were superb.

    Taxi from O Cebreiro

    You could also check out a different alternative. Walk down to Piedrafita do Cebreiro and catch the Alsa bus to A Coruña. The tiny airport has regular Iberia flights to Madrid mostly cheaper than from SdC. Flew out of there already twice, very nice. Depends a bit on your final destination.

    I am a total fan of the lightweight Kestrel line, Kyte for woman. Well built and organised, zippered wing pouches on the hip-belt. Quick grip system to take out poles while walking. Did the Frances on the 48 litre Kestrel and bought the 38 as well for other routes.

    That's what I learned the hard way when I lost my specs on my first Camino: Don't twiddle around with your stuff. Don't just lay it aside. Always put it back in your pack or attach it where it belongs, when you don't need it. And most important: ZIP UP!

    You could also do the first stage to Borrones where there is an nice family run hotel (only place to stay in town). Then it’s about 5k up to Las Medulas the next morning, which gives you a good opportunity to walk up to the spectacular Mirador de Orellan viewpoint and into the Roman tunnels...
