    Spouse Retreat

Right at the beginning of the Norte before Vitoria there is a monastery with pilgrim accommodation and also guest accommodation. It's very close to Bolivar, the Monastery is in Zennaruza. I stayed in the pilgrim housing, it's a lovely place.

Transport from Pamplona Airport to St. Jean Pied de Port - Options?

Why not just start where you are in Pamplona?

Weird foods ordered (or almost ordered) using translation apps?

Close.... It's actually the liner which is thin, light and might even be a gauze bag used to keep the flies off carcasses

Lumbar pack instead of backpack. Has anyone done it?

Could always take a pack animal.

    No Mobile Phone

Yes, twice. Though there were phone kiosks.

    Pilgrim accommodation in Paris?

There are two, just to be clear. I prefer Paris Canal, but Gare du Nord is easier to get to. Plenty of small shops and places to eat at Canal, though more choice at Gare du Nord. Though both have a cheap menu if you don't feel like moving after a long day.

Chemin de Saint Jacque, from Paris??

Saint Savin Sur Gartempe is on one of the variants of the Tours route. It's a world heritage site (Abbey Church) and then you walk past my house except you stop for a meal and a night in a proper bed.

    Pilgrim accommodation in Paris?

If you want a youth hostel with small shared rooms Saint Christopher's inn Paris Canal is in a quiet pleasant area, almost a village, but central and close to metro, bus, and public bike hire.

    I didn't know that ¿Did you?

English as my mother tongue French good enough to be thought a Belgian Enough Spanish to hold a simple conversation, and to find a field for my donkey. German enough to explain the mechanical problem that my car suffering is. Enough Italian to order the meal I would like to eat. Enough Thai to...

Paying a parking ticket in Santiago

That's 30 euros times the number caught. Plus I bet you moderated your speed for a while! 🙂

Paying a parking ticket in Santiago

I pay my French speeding tickets by credit card, and there is quite a short window to do so before the fine magically doubles in size. Though I was lucky with the last one, which was done in a garage loaner. My lovely garage said they didn't know who was driving, and paid the fine (which I...

Small (4-5 kg which is about 10 pounds) dog -- should I bring her?

You already said that in August. The OP doesn't seem to be around now anyway..

    Primitivo

I suppose it depends on where you think it starts. Like all Camino routes, there are options. Personally i would go for Oviedo, so flying in to Madrid could work for you, then get the train. Or if you have more time, start on the North, maybe Bilbao.

How important is a forum member title?

There's a lot of it about. Segue into discussion on brand of walking poles, price of coffee, colour of crocs.....etc.

PSA: Please pay attention to your online safety as well!

Peter, you and I have been around long enough to form our minds and opinions. Old does not equal gaga. Young does not equal clever. Though it may come with opinionated and bossy. Not to mention quick to judge without proof. However, old often comes with ability to ignore well meaning ignorance...

PSA: Please pay attention to your online safety as well!

You make a fair point. However, I don't think there are any Camino related scams specific to "older" pilgrims. So, as this is a Camino Santiago forum, maybe it's not all that relevant?

PSA: Please pay attention to your online safety as well!

Really? How old is older? Why are older people more vulnerable? I can still set up a computer running windows 3.1 and make it connect to the internet which I bet anyone under 50 can't do. Plus I have been travelling since I was 13 years old. Yes, including "abroad"

    Option to ignore moderators

It's quite easy to get modded here, in my experience . Anyone who has never been deleted must be a much nicer and more tolerant person than me. I do frequent other fora which have a "lounge" area where we have some splendid arguments. Maybe we could try that?

Easter 2025 is route open as normal?

Yes, you would notice that on a bike.
