    Do I need A Visa?

...a at a border with your passport and that was enough. Now there's an extra step that foreigners have to do or you are not allowed to enter Schengen or the United States (and other countries/zones). If you don't have one, you can't even get on a plane? It might be much easier to get than a...

    Do I need A Visa?

How to know the difference between a Schengen visa and a Schengen ETIAS travel authorisation - both are for travel to a Schengen country and a short stay of up to 90 days in the Schengen area: If you paid €90 - it’s a Schengen visa. If you paid €7 - it’s ETIAS, the travel authorisation.😅🤭

    Do I need A Visa?

Thats 60 days at the most so no - you are well within the 90 day limit for the stay in the Schengen zone and do not need anything (but then all of the above already said that :)) Good luck and Buen Camino

    ETIAS?

...that they are ready, it will start. Further details are in the proposal. Bottom line: As a traveller to Spain or any other country of the Schengen area, you don’t have to do anything before departure from your home airport. Upon arrival you may be asked to go through the EES channel or you...

    Do I need A Visa?

...be no new regulation that will affect your trip to Spain, your trip in Spain, and your trip back home to the USA. You do not need to get a Schengen visa. You heard something about the ETIAS system. ETIAS is not a visa. ETIAS will not be put in operation during the next 7 months (at least!!!)...

    Do I need A Visa?

...will not require US passport holders to get a visa. After it goes into effect those who currently can enter without a visa and stay in the Schengen zone for 90 days will need to apply online for an ETIAS, which is an electronic travel authorization, not a visa. IMO applying for a visa is a...

    Do I need A Visa?

I see, thanks. I'll try to get a Schengen visa, then- it's probably better to be safe than sorry in this case.

Paying a parking ticket in Santiago

It still surprises many that their parking infringements may be recorded electronically in perpetuity, whilst their entry and exit of the Schengen zone is not.

    ETIAS?

...that it was EWR - the European Economic Area's German abbreviation. That's all of the EU plus four other countries, all four of them also Schengen countries. This thread is a bit confusing as it is about returning to your own country and going through some voluntary electronic gates on the...

Paying a parking ticket in Santiago

...And although I don't know how keen they are - there is theoretically the possibility of entering your data into the EU's SIS database. An alert will appear on the border official's computer screen when your passport gets scanned the next time you want to enter Spain from outside of Schengen.

    ETIAS?

...This is a process for people coming from countries needing a visitor visa for coming to Canada. So, there is a clear extinction and the EU (Schengen) is doing with ETIAS the same thing. Means that for example Canadians, Americans, Australians will need to do only the ETIAS, which is the same...

    ETIAS?

You just pay €7 pre travel and you get travel authority for 3 years! No boarding the plane without pre approval! I’ve have not seen the machines in Europe but they have similar in Australia. You do your entry stuff at the machines and then pass through the immigration barriers without even...

    ETIAS?

Is not the ETIAS system uniform across the various EU countries? In the exiting process, I read that fingerprinting and facial recognition would be utilized. Does anyone know how Spain plans to implement EES. How will we get fingerprinted or get a photo taken. Will we need to make an...

Attempted a long stay Schengen visa… I failed

The standard Schengen Visa allows for a 90 day stay in a rolling 180 day window. So nipping out of the Schengen zone and back in again does not reset the clock

    The entire Schenghen zone.

Attempted a long stay Schengen visa… I failed

Hola - @Rex - from what I have read here and elsewhere if you are actually "deported" then the ban on re-entry can be anything up to 5 years (or the validity of the current passport). Can't remember if the ban applies to all Schengen Countries or just the one that actually kicks you out. Cheers

Attempted a long stay Schengen visa… I failed

...visa. Messing around with visa limits has a unique set of risks. I have a friend in the Seattle area who has been banned from the Schengen zone for repeatedly overstaying his visa to support a child attending college in Germany (helicopter parent, anyone?!!). I do not know how long the...

Attempted a long stay Schengen visa… I failed

I suggest you walk in Italy.... The Via Francigena Sud from Rome to Santa Maria de Lueca, about 850km, followed by the Via Francigena from the Italian border at St Bernads Pass ( depending on snow) or if not Aosta) to Rome, over 1000km. My wife and I did the Via Francigena in 2017 and did the...

Attempted a long stay Schengen visa… I failed

Just send in the normal itinerary proposed by so many Camino books and apps and add a few days rest and tourism here and there. They will not check the exact itinerary you are walking. This is all they need it seems.

Attempted a long stay Schengen visa… I failed

Indeed, ‘visa runs’ may be advertised everywhere in South East Asia, but not so in Europe!
