    A dual SIM - physical SIM for the Aus number, and - eSIM for Spain for data for WhatsApp etc, is a good option. Purchase eSIM before you leave home.

    To add to this, my Pixel accepts an eSim (GoogleFi - no international plan) and a SIM (I bought an Orange SIM in Spain). With WiFi calling my GoogleFi number worked over the Orange SIM data. This is a really nice bonus of eSIM+SIM. Dual SIM phones are handy
